Please tell me you realize the recruiters have a quota to hit ? Great if they get a fit, but they just have to hit their numbers which they can do from home. My work puts me out in the public, but apples/oranges is a great comparison.

Not quite the same but in the last couple of weeks I have been approached by several consulting companies wanting to know if I would be interested in discussing aspects of the industry I worked in prior to retiring. Although they did not want to tell me much without a non disclosure agreement I was able to figure out that it looks like a company not currently in the specific segment of the business is looking to enter what is a very profitable segment of my former employer's business. The standard pitch was "we will pay you $200 an hour for your insights". Considering I still have a mid 6 figure amount in my ESOP account, yeah I am gonna help you enter a business segment to compete against the company I worked for 34 years.

We use Workday at work. It is absolutely horrible. Might as well go thru the self service lane all the time and have no operating manual to work the register. We cuss it on a regular basis. Our HR department hates it worse than the department managers. It is a pain to transfer people around the plant and working performance reviews or raises is cumbersome.

Well let me put this as easy to follow as I can. You no longer live with your wife because she went halfway across the country for a job. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not sure in your field what is going on, nor do I really care..... I'm just a hands-on in the public working guy.

The positions I'm seeing are for senior- and principal-level software engineers - not the sort of folks who lost their jobs because the restaurant or the hair salon was forced to close.

Advertising an open position and ready to hire for that position are two entirely different things. I have been told many times , once this is over we will revisit all of our applicants. I don't understand how you can't figure this out.
