Every time a hurricane hits seems more than one dies from it, and during hard winters.
Hell I put mine downwind when it's running as don't like the fumes.
We don't have a shortage of stupid in this country. Heck, just look at the voting patterns.

76 dead so far, 35 in Lee county they said. Seems alot of people stayed and regretted it. They're pulling people out of flooded area by the hundreds.
Trying to push blame on county for not ordering evacuations a day earlier when it was hitting Tampa area. People have zero personal responsibility...
Know your area, situation, etc or stay someplace with zero risks.

Certainly CNN will place the blame on DeSantis. If for no other reason than he sent the 50 border jumpers up to Obama’s island.

The politicization of Ian started long before he made landfall: climate change.

Yeah man; exactly why I bailed at 3 am the day before. Didn't want to get stuck in traffic, not able to find any gas/food etc.

That last night before the storm was deceivingly peaceful...

Cameltoe Harris announced yesterday that Ian affected black people the most so they needed more help first. Priority over everybody else.

So, yeah, playing the race angle and applying it to a storm.

Like when Maxine Waters called Covid 19 Racist two years ago.

Supremely, supremely stupid people we have running the show.

Didn't take any. In the good old days, film was expensive and people didn't document every event every time.

I still don't (have a flip phone).

Extensive cracks in the plaster at the walls in the main floor are due to torsional twisting on the foundation. 1926 house with plaster on lath construction. Spanish tile roof. No actual structural damage, and dad had the foundation sills anchored down afterwards.
I was in the house at the time and it was a loooong event. Long enough for us to get downstairs, get into the front yard, and watch the house shake.
Remember it like yesterday.
StillTalkingShit, on Bayfarm Island, didn't feel anything because it's all landfill and mush. All that Mercury, PCB's, and Methylethylketone in the area explain a LOT about his spelling errors and erratic viewpoints.

I'm back alive with power. Surprising amount of flooding in Seminole County, St Johns runs through and everything drains down to it. It will be months until it gets anywhere near a normal low level.

Local FB and other sites have been running "Help Needed!" ads. To a person, everybody without food, shelter or a place to live shows they moved here from up north. None of them seem to know what a generator is and are whining their food went bad. Florida has been exploited and overbuilt for decades by companies from up north that dive in, build and dissolve the company before lawsuits can find them. The northerners buy it up and brag like crazy, until now.

There should be some sort of training required before you move into most places in this state.....

My bro and his wife in Cape Coral stayed in home for hurricane, no water in house as I beleive he is at least four feet above street level, no damage to home other than screens for pool cage, dock is intact, pontoon boat safe but lost tarp, tiki hut roof cannot be found.
He is roughing it for now, but I think he will out by the weekend, as he will not have electricity or water, he has a generator, but not having power and water gets old quick.
We lost both for five days when Wilma hit Broward in 2005, wife took the kiddies to DW, I stayed at home, got old fast, AND it was an end-of-October storm with daily temps around 72, hotter than that you cannot sleep.

My youngest daugher is East Naples fared very well, she rents in an apartment community, zero damage for her, got power back in two days, missed no shifts at the hospital.

I am headed there on Wednesday, IF ANYONE NEEDS ANYTHING, PLEASE PM YOUR NAME AND CELL, I will call you to discuss.

Stay safe, and patient, as this will be a very long recovery.

Went down to the marina on the NAS Jax yesterday. Yup, St. John's river is so high it's got the floating boat dock so high nobody can reach it. Well, that and the 20 feet of water you have to wade through to get to it. Happens every time there's a huge storm or hurricane and with the current flowing south to north, it takes a lot for it do drain into the Atlantic. the incoming tides reach in so far that it makes it take longer, too.

Sanford is on a lake, and that lake now goes to Second Street downtown. Not mention all the areas peasants live that don't get reported on. Small creeks run through Seminole county, to Monroe and then St John's. Most have swallowed all those fancy houses built in the last 20 years. Just waiting for the neighborhood built on top of the old rendering plant to start stinking soon! Many roads have just been shut down in the county as things drain downwards, with a number of smaller bridges washed out.

Saw a rain chart that said New Symrna literally got twice as much rainfall as Cape Coral and the west coast. Got the winds too, but press doesn't know it exists because they are crying over all the vacation homes in the SW area.
