I am viewing the destruction, it will be much more expensive than any other storm, as have seen multiple causeways over water that have to the remaining parts destroyed before they can start over.
Have not seen the depths of the flooding into home, but will be beyond initial estimates, this is the big ticket damage, as water effs everything, very little inside a home can be saved.

Have not gotten a damage report from my bro on the water in cape coral, but pretty damn certain his first floor is toast.

My thoughts and prayers are with those affected, stay strong!!

Since my parents and brother have lived on the coast of NC for decades our family has a hurricane policy. Anything greater than a CAT 2 they leave the island. My brother stayed for a CAT3 once and almost lost his life. He said never again. I hope people in FLA have figured this out and left. It's hard to leave all your worldly possessions but you can never replace your life.

What's making me mad about this storm is it's going to ruin my further attempts to get a good picture on Jupiter since it's in opposition and closest to Earth in 60 years. The other night was good but I was battling high wispy clouds. Here is a severely over processed image from last Tuesday. With the high clouds I couldn't get a good focus or enough good frames to produce a good stacked image.

Forecasters got it WAY wrong here fortunately. Yesterday we were predicted to get 10-15 inches of rain, high winds and 6-8 ft storm surge. Now we might get 1 inch of rain and peak sustained winds of 33 mph later today. Eye will now go 100+ miles offshore instead of right over us, then turn back to hit SC as a Cat 1 hurricane.
