For those impacted, staying or going?


If you are staying, now is the time to fire up those generators and make sure they run. And don't forget the milk, bread and toilet paper. And booze, too, if that is your thing.

Been through Super Storm Sandy and was destroyed....wishing everyone in its path safety !

We have plenty of water, booze, snacks, booze , food, booze, gas, booze, generator, booze and flashlights.

I may have to make a booze run.

The wifey's hometown is St. Pete, many relatives there, all have left, some were mandatory due to coastal, FL is damn good about clearing out and handling the logistics during and after.
This could be very bad, always seems the water does most of the damage, the winds will take a few roofs and trees, but the water destroys the entire home.

Hopefully the storm weakens and moves through quickly, slow and powerful is a deadly combination.

11 AM advisory lists winds at 115 mph, lower than the 125 at 8 AM, BUT it still shows the storm going right through Tampa Bay, which is worst case.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE Ian:
Twas the night before Ian and all through the house
Everyone was nervous, except for my spouse.
The shutters were hung ‘round the house all with care,
In hopes in the morning it still would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of spaghetti models danced in their heads.
And me in my night gown, and hubs in his cap,
Had just had some pizza and a coke that was flat.
When outside the house there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our chairs to see what was the matter.
Away to the window jumping over our clutter,
but we couldn’t see squat because of the shutters
With snacks in hand, and a go-bag all ready.
We retired to our room, hoping our roof did stay steady.
With a silent prayer said for all the residents of our state.
We will hunker down no choice now but to wait.

NE FL here, so I'm staying. Far enough inland from the St. John's River that I don't have to worry about flooding or storm surges at the beach.

The college I work for just announced a shut down until Monday, but there's no fun to be had here for me sitting on the couch with strep throat. Ughhh.....


And we don't panic here until Awful House closes for a storm.

now it looks like Ian will travel NE, and hug the Atlantic coast on it's journey upwards.

I don't think we'll be even getting any rain from it.

Stay: If you are secure and am 100% certain your structure is not going to be compromised by 125+ winds and surge, and leaving is a PITA, AND you have enough provisions, including water, for at least 7 days, I would consider staying

Leave: If you know your structure will be compromised by 125+ winds and surge AND / OR you do not have provisions for 7 days, I would get out of Dodge

Make your decsion soon, as am certain both 75-North and The Alley will be parking lots by this evening.
