What you guys should be asking yourself is why did Trump only get 50%? If he truly had well over 90% of republican support in 2020, what changed? After all, he is an ex-president and the de facto leader of the party. Was that other 50% protest votes as well or is he losing ground?

The results support the polling before the caucuses which say in a Trump/Biden rematch only 71% of republicans polled will vote Trump. Another 11% will vote for Biden and the rest are between Kennedy (8%) and the others.

If Trump couldn't win with well over 90%, I think it was 98%, support in 2020, can he win with only 70%? I know you all think you have the final say on political opinion but many of us think Trump was a train wreck and it appears that a growing number of Republicans may be feeling the same way. Will it be enough to beat him in 2024, we won't know until November.

Time will tell and I don't like polling this far out but this poll is important along with the latest NH poll that had Haley and Trump tied. Also the latest presidential polls have Biden up again.

Just my thoughts, no emotions just asking the questions that people should be considering. I wish we had better choices.

Look at 2020, there was a caucus and Trump pulled 97%, that's normally what happens with some incumbents pulling 100%. What happened to the 46% that dropped Trump from 2020?

That's the thing Team Trump and his supporters need to figure out as well as how many will vote against him in the general as these numbers support the polling that shows Trump at 71% of likely caucus goers in Iowa with the rest saying they will vote for other candidates.

This is truly uncharted territory.

You are assuming a bit much Jeff. I don’t personally feel Trump will improve anything in another term. I would like a better choice than what we’ll have.
