Funny thing is if you study the Indians who lived here for thousands of years before we showed up in the 1850s, they didn't live right on the shore. They knew better.
Maybe they would have fought harder if they were trying to keep nice waterfront homes.

The Ohio river is high enough we are having a difficult time getting our ore and carbon supply up the river. Two of the locks are closed due to flooding. We might have to have it offloaded and put on a train to get to us. Not good for the cost.

The lake I live on, (actually a large flood control reservoir) has moved well over 15' a couple times since August of last year. Normally it starts going down around Memorial day, and the lake gets dangerously low around Labor day. Its dangerous unless you well know the lake and also use a dept finder as a save your ass item!

We had so much water input in the last 9 months or so that the controlling of the reservoir has been quite interesting to say the least. With the water moving up and down so much we have huge ice heaves that are extremely dangerous to snowmobiles. Also many docks, floats and stairs have been crushed and carried away. When the ice out occurs it appears they will be a shitload of debris heading to the dam! Then the snow melt and spring rains will bring the lake back up. I would think that based on what I see we will have water going over the dam, and that could make things very "interesting/nasty" for down river people and communities!

My private beach will also get a bunch of float in due to the current of the river & the prevailing wind moving things along. It appears this year will be nasty, glad I have a good tractor with bucket! My docks are pulled way up past the high water line and are safe!

I guess after the recent problems there they are getting ready for some major water to flow in as the snow pack melts. I have no doubt it will fill up nicely.
