Correct, the housing taxes go up more on a percentage each yeah though as theyre capped with a homestead exemption to 10% a year.

My income tax in CA was about 30k. Living in an apartment I didn't pay RE taxes, but 15k would have been a bargain. I think that a flat tax is the way to go, likely sales, especially now that I'm retired and don't spend too much
