So, you got the nose up the swab test too?

I asked the nurse when I got mine why they go so far up with the swab. She launched into a lengthy medical explanation. I listened and then said "Can't you get it by touching your face or nose?" She said yes, to which I replied "So, it's an intelligent virus that can enter your nose, but then it all goes way up into your sinuses and there is no virus in your mucus or spit?" She gave me the look.

I'm thinking if you swab it too vigorously that it wont be cerebral fluid that soaked the swab.

The best part? I had to get this test in order to have a garden hose shoved up my patoot next week.

The hits just keep coming.

Good luck on the surgery. that is a rough disease to have with travel and all. Did you have to skip eating for plane trips etc.. Or did you find a combination that was safe for you through the years?

It was bad when they did the first surgery nearly 40 years ago. I had no real symptoms for probably 20 years after that and it came back slowly. I asked the Doc if there was any food I should avoid and he said if I ate something that bothered it I shouldn't eat it again. It's just something that's there but I don't let it get me down, and I carry meds to take if I do have a major flareup while traveling; never needed them fortunately.

I know people with much worse health issues, which helps me keep the right perspective with mine.

I have a cousin that has been plagued with that his entire adult life. Poor guy was miserable and had the most awful flare ups. Fortunately, he ended up at Cleveland Clinic a few years ago and somehow they got it under control. He’s been a different man since then.

My sympathies to you, Steve.

If they have to shove it that far up, why will a mask prevent the spread? Why not just cough or sneeze on something and test that if the masks work to prevent the spread? That almost sounds like Gene posted it.
