Default Sad News: American Icon Colt Firearms has been Purchased by the Czech Company CZ

https://justthenews.com/nation/longt...rearms-company

This is on par with Budweiser being sold to the Belgians and Miller and Coors being sold to the South Africans. Of course, Colt has been making poor business decisions for a while, so this wound was mostly self inflicted. Still, it's sad.

FN has been making fringe weapons like the SCAR for the Special Ops community.

Colt still makes the M4.

Numbers of production isn't even close.

Doesn't Sig Sauer make the sidearm used by our military?

Sad. As a nation we used to be a manufacturing powerhouse and creditor to the rest of the world but the modern fiat dollar changed all that.

That dipshit pretending to be a doctor at the other site thought it was worth celebrating that the rest of the world was trading real stuff for our vapor (dollar).

Short term it is but long term it works the same for both individuals and nations. We are literally selling our national furniture (industry), to pay for current consumption. We are going to leave a broke ass, third world banana republic to our posterity.

This ^ shit isn’t possible on a gold standard, that is the only reason we don’t have one.

The way Colt was going they would have been tits up in the near future.

This company is a well respected outfit and will keep the Colt name moving on.

They build good weapons (CZ group) and have a long history of doing things well. I did get a rumor on a another forum (gun) that said they were thinking of doing more with revolvers, so look for more following the new Python and the missed named but decent new Colt Cobra. (Its realy a Detective Special)

Looking ahead-Now if their competitor S&W wants to sell more revolvers get rid of that stupid lawyer approved internal lock.

Agree. America became a superpower in the world because of our manufacturing, especially after WWII, when European and Asian manufacturing was shattered, and we were the only game in town, easily able to convert our munitions and weapons manufacturing back to civilian uses, like making toasters.

I've still got, and occasionally use, a made in America post war Sunbeam toaster. Put the bread in, and it slowly lowers into the toaster, then, when done, slowly rises out of the toaster. The chrome is even still in good shape.

That's made in America quality.

Government has an infinite line of credit. It borrows dollars to pay welfare recipients and government employees who use them to buy real stuff from foreign producers. Foreign producers understand “inflation”, they use them to buy our industry and either ship it back to their country or run it here for profit.

Every year we get more welfare recipients and more government, nether produce value though a small portion of gov’t probably provides a necessary service? This is possible because our sovereignty resides in our ability to choose and control our own money, not voting. That isn’t possible with the modern fiat dollar.

Agreed. I just replaced an American made water heater manufactured in 1971! The guy told me to expect to be replacing the new one within a decade.

Under the current debt based system, credit growth has to continue indefinitely, so a cycle of infinite consumption is necessary or credit deflation blows up the system. Impossible on a finite planet and I think we’ve reached the end of this system’s ability to function. I think that is the “why” for the overblown response to the WuFlu.

Time is telling.

On a positive note, Czechs make excellent guns and CZ has been producing more and more in US. I would love a Colt with Dan Wesson build quality.

Never had a need for anything Colt. There are so many other quality manufacturers around that won't rape my wallet or play politics with my rights.

Maybe now I'll be able to get a new Python at actual list price because supply will meet demand. I just hope CZ maintains at least some manufacturing here.
