Default The sky has fallen...
Well actually just my ceiling. Couple of days ago I noticed a little crack in our living room ceiling. Then a couple more. As time passed every time I looked I saw it getting bigger. I told Rita this morning I was gonna take off the last week of the month and tear out the ceiling because the cracks were getting bigger. I joked if it lasted that long. My grandson Conner and I went to the store about six. When we got back as I put the key in the lock I joked that I hoped my ceiling wasn't on my floor. Took six hours to clean it up. Called insurance company today. They are supposed to come out tomorrow for an estimate.

When I first saw the small crack I went up into the attic looking for daylight. It appeared that the flashing had pulled away from the chimney. I climbed up there and resealed it but I am guessing the damage was already done. Every couple of days the crack got a little bigger. Friday and Saturday they were growing and spreading rapidly. Sunday I swear every hour it looked bigger.

This will be the big question and you certainly need to oversee what the adjusters will be looking for, particularly with blown-in insulation.

Had water damage at one of my properties with blown-in insulation and the adjuster missed most of another room where the insulation was wet enough to create mold problems down the road.

They just looked at the ceiling beneath and decided all was good. I reminded them how water can travel in very unexpected ways across joists and piping.
They opened the ceiling and found the damp insulation I told them was there because I looked inside the ceiling.
