Wire for dimming dash lights?

Is there a wire accessible under the drivers dash or close to it that I could tie in to for dimming my fuel gauge along with the dash lights?

The only one I know of is the cream colored wire on the HVAC plug. I tapped that plug to dim my double din head unit.
