Can someone explain it like I'm 5 why the router the phone company sold me years ago is no longer satisfactory? I'm able to connect anything I want to the router by typing the WEP code, no issues.

What am I missing?

If it is working perfectly for you don't change a thing. You are not missing anything!

In my case, I got an Eero mesh system with three stations with one being connected to the modem and the others wireless. Now I have full speeds all over the house and even out in the garage where before I had one Apple Airport Extreme and wifi became spotty in the kitchen and garage.

Check your bill and see if you’re renting the modem or router, it may be a good reason to switch to your own equipment

I look at my bill every month. The home phone keeps creeping up every year, but so far the two year price on the internet seems to be holding firm. I paid a one time charge for the router, same as the old one, back when I had DSL.

The biggest threat of this kind of service is lack of privacy. Guess what? Your router provider now knows EVERYTHING that you search for on the internet. Marketer's dream. And your porn addiction will be exposed.

Think the Alexa debacle was an issue? This will be 100X's worse.

No social media, no nothing. People are stupid for sharing so much. The joke is, the ISP's already have this information. Not sure if monetizing, but this new venture most certainly will.

That's why I use my own personal password. It's pa$$word, by the way.

Oh, maybe I shouldn't have posted that here. Oops.
