Thunder 22 avatar..
Got me thinking. If you guys could get a ride in a F-22 or a P-51, what would it be? Hands down the P-51 for me. Just raw mechanical shit there...Plus, the sound of that V-12 Merlin engine.

I got to ride in a B-1B when I crewed them. Terrain following would have been the shit, but we couldn't get cleared to do low level the day I flew. I've been supersonic, and it was totally uneventful. The aircraft buffets a little when it comes back through the sound barrier, and that is the extent of it. At altitude, speed just can't be felt. And yes, I do have video...

My pick isn't on the list either, but F-4U Corsair is my heartthrob, and F14 Tomcat, if you could find one still flyable!

I already had a ride in a P-51 so I’ll take the F-22 and a barf bag. I’m actually hoping to still be around when space flights open to the public for under 100 grand.

Trick question - both planes are single seaters.
And regarding the Concorde - all seats are the same on that plane, no classes. I've flown on BA Concords many times for work. |

here's the original pic if anyone wants it. I took it at the Jones Beach Air Show many years ago. I was standing on the beach with a canon 40D and 70-200 F4L.

Some Blue Angels. All taken hand held while standing on the beach. I got a grade 100 sun burn that day...

Not entirely true. Some P-51s are retrofits that added a back seat. See below. Other than that, after having significant seat and sim time in F-15s, I can tell you that supersonic flight is absolutely boring. However, high-G maneuvering and combat take-offs and landings are NOT boring. Been at 9+ Gs during BFM, and that definitely makes you tired...but damn does it change your life outlook.

While 100% true, there are several P-51's with a back seat now, but you already know that. F-22 though, we are SOL on.
