Looks like Facebook shoppers won't know they've been ripped off by buying Chinese shit for a few more weeks.

Once the initial try at pulling it out with tugs failed, they should have been working as fast as possible to offload the container cargo. Do that, then pump out the ballast water, and, if necessary, pump out most of the fuel oil, THEN tug it out.

I'm reminded of the last days of the US in S. Vietnam, when sailors were pushing perfectly good Hueys over the side, into the water to make room for more refugees. Start pushing containers off into the water. They'll float long enough to either beach on the sides of the canal, or to be retrieved. So what if the cargo is ruined? Look at the big picture.

Just wonder how in the hell did it get stuck in the first place. Wonder if it was done deliberately

You obviously don’t know ship logistics. Especially with the majority of weight moveable objects in the cargo holds.

The story was very strong winds and the high sail that the cargo above board presents. Still, the captain is done.

There were two Egyptian pilots on board at the time Ships are required to have a local pilot in order to transit the canal. Wonder if there were conflicting directions given or some other miscommunications

Captain or the pilot? Isn’t the Pilot in complete command during the passage?

Are you saying there's no way to safely offload any of the cargo to make the ship lighter, and thus, more buoyant, while it's securely stuck in the side of the canal?

What's your solution to this? Digging out the side of the canal and using tugs doesn't seem to be working.

Very strong winds did not create the "random pattern" before entering the canal.

Do you know what the size of a container is? Or the weight? You can't simply set up a human chain to offload those.

Enough to know that ballast and weight distribution is paramount. Once a ship like that starts to lean too much, it’s done for. The canal will be blocked until they cut it apart.

They typically get there early, before their slotted time. Not sure why he decided to draw a dick

They have nothing there tall enough to unload the cargo anyway. The gantries required to unload these big carriers are enormous. Can't just get a rental crane and do the job.

They need to dig it out and wait for a huge tide. I would think they could defuel, but messing with ballast with a load that tall would be crazy, unless they had way too much ballast to begin with.

I realize that different containers will weigh different amounts, but what, exactly, is the problem with starting in each of the 4 corners and yanking containers off as evenly as possible to lighten the load? I'm assuming there's some method used in loading to make sure the deck is level. Use that, and adjust the offloading as necessary to keep the ship from listing. Man loaded the ship without capsizing it, man should be able to offload without capsizing it.

I'll leave it to engineers and maritime experts to figure out the mechanics of offloading the containers.

Explain why my plan is flawed.
