I think you mean bronze wool, steel wool corrodes and turns the teak black. My dad learned that one the hard way back in 1976.

My dad learnt that one the hard way in 1976 too. He thought he could get away with dumping it over the side while we were beached in the murky water of Port Sheldon. What he didn't realize is the blue chemical really shows up nicely on top of the water.

As fast as the Chaparral is, that thing will crush it. What are you doing with the Chap?

Sold the Chap to another PA lake guy up this way.

It'll just be nice to have a larger boat to fit the kids on and still have room for 4-5 friends.

I actually never even put the potty back on after I removed it to clean the cabin.

What are you stepping into after the Monterey?

Nice! Looking forward to pics of her. Their Sig series are really nice and they make great use of space for their size.

My big concern when you go to 30' + is do you go twin engine or not.

I was up your way for a funeral Monday and almost called you to come out for a cold one but both the kids are sick so I had to hustle home to help mama.

The Sig 300 has twin 5.0 260hp mercs, but it still hauls. It's not as fast as my bud's twin 496 Formula, but it also doesn't inhale fuel at the same rate.
Next time you're up, let me know. I am currently sporting zero broken bones for once.

Sounds like a good compromise between the 2. Probably better than 1 big block struggling to push all that weight and no need to have 2 monsters unless you'll be wake boarding off that bish.

I'm guessing you could get 14 gph at cruise. Not bad at all.

I used to run those Mercruiser 260's in several different boats. Rock-solid performance combo. But, unless there's been significant improvements, I'd expect closer to 20-22 gph at cruise from twins.

Take a look here: MerCruiser 5.7 Fuel Consumption 250/260 HP | MPG GPH Test & Specs US Gallons per Hour | MerCruiser 260 engine

BTW, I spent the last few days in Marathon, FL fishing on a 22 Robalo center console. Buddy just bought the boat -- it's niiiice.

I'm assuming you're dropping it off for the side exit captain's call exhaust immediately?

If I can't wake up the old folks in the condos when I put it in the water, I don't want none. Also, if the fastest it's gonna go is behind the truck........

This is what I want in a few years.

Different color scheme of course.

Original owner (State Rep) didn't have much free time to use it and is buying a smaller boat to replace it.

Still waiting for paperwork from him so I can register it.

I have the Corsa Captain's call on my injected 454 right now. We call it "The Captain's Choice" and I typically open it up at around 10:00 pm at the marina after about a baziliion beers, annoying everyone within earshot.
it doesn't seal well so it still rumbles like a mofo under cruise.

I'm not a big fan of boats but I could be if I were the salty captain of that fine vessel.

Did you get the new boat on the water before the weather turned?
