It's just a roll of QUARTERS !
I wanted to keep a roll of quarters in my truck just to spray it off in a car wash if it needs it. You'd think I was asking for someone's kidney.
I went to Walmart and bought some crap I didn't need just to get cash back. I asked for my cash back in quarters. "Sorry sir, I can't do that. Best I can do is 2 fives". Fine, I go to the service desk with 2 fives and ask for a roll of quarters. Sorry sir, we can't sell our quarters. Well, you aren't really selling them, you are trading them. I could buy something with a roll of quarters, right? Yes, but we can't give change. Ok, fine. There is a bank in the store. I approach the teller. "Can I get a roll of quarters please?" Do you have an account here? No I'm sorry, I can't do that. I leave and stop at Sam's club. Wander around looking at TVs etc. and go to customer service. Same shit. Can't give me quarters. Go try a register. I go to a cashier. Nope, not gonna do it. No quarters given. I walk to the bank in their parking lot. Teller says no, but another teller finally agrees. She tells me they aren't supposed to because they track how many quarters are in each drawer. Ok, well, "now"... there are two more 5 dollar bills and 40 less quarters. Seems pretty easy to track. Maybe the car washes need to catch up with technology and accept debit cards. @Raazor - cliffs: I couldn't get any quarters. Thank you for your time. Please "pity bump" below... |

I usually stuff a sock in my front pocket, but I guess a roll of quarters would work too....

ONLY use for change around here anymore is the quarters they use to chain grocery carts together outside the stores, to encourage folks to return the carts and so get their 25c back......fairly effective, but not totally.....so I keep a small med bottle behind pass seat in my '72 vette with quarters in it, and one on the console....

Many businesses have to buy change at the banks they do business with so giving it away is not something they would want to do

Back in the 80's I got a roll of quarters and all of them was 1964 minted quarters. Still have them.

Mrs. DAB ends up with all my coinage.
but i used to keep an old film canister full of quarters in my car/truck, so I always had some change in case i had to feed a parking meter somewhere, as i normally do not carry coins in my pockets. |

Good old plastic money, spends SO easy!!! I say that to cashiers all the time, gets a smirk or a grin and a smile......
some 20 years ago, I counted out a full 5 gallon milk jug/canister from a dairy, white ceramic all loose silver color change, no copper pennies, those are in another copper milk container never touched for some 40+ years now.... have since then maybe 3" of coins in a 5" cannon shell..... when counted out, before the bank had the auto coin counter in the lobby.....some 3500 bux...... |

Local self-serve car wash here takes debit/credit cards.
Along with quarters, $1.00 and $5.00 bills. $3.00 minimum to start, 2.5 minutes. $6.00 for ten minutes. (need that much here because of salt on roads in winter. Soap brush too. Man, does that brush work good. |

Yeah, because it makes perfect sense to drive 25 miles (to MY bank) from my office for a freakin roll of quarters. DUH I have three banks less than a mile from my office. Hand me a fkn roll of quarters, I give you ten dollars. Shouldn't be too challenging for anyone involved. |
