Bugs worked out of the '06 long ago. I loved my tour in Germany ( Bitburg '82-'85 ).
Just keep your wits about you in PI, and listen to the guys who know. I've known guys who married well there. If you marry a very young one, you better bring your a game so she doesn't get the itch for a young stud...

Appreciate the honest concern, this is a one time attempt for me.

I am not to excited about the distance and time required but I know it can work. Two guys I am working with went through all of this and it worked out for them. My trip to PI is to see if we have the chemistry to continue.

I didn't want to make decisions based on two individuals advice at work and hit up this site for some feedback.

Guys at work are telling me to be careful also.

Of course, he was old enough to be her father, maybe grandfather. She was around the same age as his kids.

The biggest export the Phillipines has is probably people, who work overseas and send money back. Some work on ships, some work in other countries (we have a bunch of Philipino nurses here in the US), and some do it the old fashioned way, by marrying their meal ticket.

Use caution, OP. You WILL be a meal ticket, but you might not get a loyal, traditional submissive wife out of the deal. Then again, maybe you will.
I do appreciate the feedback. I am looking for signs, both good and bad but doing this online thing is hard to tell. Many I was chatting with, within a week or less they were asking for money and I ended those contacts.

I am trying to be careful, thanks.

The PI visit is to see if I feel comfortable about going to the next step, she is aware.

There is a 20 year difference which is not unusual, before I moved to Germany I was getting interest from girls in their 20's and 30's, I wasn't divorced yet so I passed.

For me, Didi's Pizza near the Main Gate or those mystery meat "Hot Dogs" deep in the bar area. Perfect while you're drinking food.

Btw, I once drank three Red Horse and lost the ability to talk other than drunkenese. I guess those were from the 90 mule team kick batch.

They were an odd red color.

Was it beef, pork, or left over monkey anus?

Didi's is now only on MacArthur. Shakey's is still around. Olive's, I don't even know that one. There were just so many places to eat and drink.

I never spent much time on Magsaysay Blvd. I would head out to the barrio. I hung out at Easyriders upstairs. Damn this thread is bringing back memories.

Plenty of good times there, for sure. I still keep in contact with friends I made while there.

Olive's cafe was a little place on Fields Ave which sold mostly Filipino dishes and was very popular with the working girls.

Heard about Red Horse many times over the years, not sure it is available in Makati area or not but I will check. Planning on doing the tourist thing in Makati to see what happens.

Watch out for Red Horse ! High alcohol content. Don't be that guy that wakes up in a bathtub of ice missing a kidney.

Add Mojo to that list as well.

Thanks, I should be good, beer is not unknown to me.

I am in Germany now, not drinking the watered down American brew at this time.

By the way, I like to keep my kidneys, thanks for the heads up. Not planning any hard core partying, the girl I am meeting doesn't like drinking so I will behave.

All the beer in the PI is horrible. San Miguel? Red Horse?

Even more horrific is the coconut wine. Stick to the rhum. They make really good, really cheap rhum. As I don't drink much, I mostly drank tap water or Coke while there. Dr. Pepper is available, but not everywhere.
