Yes, this also includes Joecooool. You may not agree with him, and I know the Phil Dogpile is a popular game here but the name calling doesn't really get anyone anywhere. |

My wife and I have been talking about it too. It's less than 20 miles to Missouri from where we live now. Problem is how much it would cost to move right now with what we would lose on our house

The cost of living is low here, and you could take over the car business

Speaking as someone who usually disagrees politically with just about everybody in the room, I understand that it doesn't help the cause to belittle or namecall, rather, I just stick to facts and reasoned opinion. I notice that Phil generally uses the same approach. Just because we disagree, it doesn't mean we must be disagreeable. Hell, if I could only be friends with people who thought like me, I'd have, what, 1 or two possible friends in the whole world? What if I never had the opportunity to meet them? Those are bad odds. +1 for I'd like to see more civility here. Argue the issues, not the person. |

Where are all the "No slippery slope" ranters now? Curious that they're not present. But of course, now it's our fault because we wouldn't compromise.
Well, when compromise is to do things their way, they are correct, we will not compromise. I never once had a real answer to my question I posed to them about what law could have been in place to prevent these tragedies beyond confiscation...not one. Yet we're supposed to compromise? |

Banning of guns is going to do one thing, increase the value of guns, and create a new black market, which then will only make the criminals more money illegally, this isnt going to stop "gun violence". The only way to keep guns out is to literally have one big wall around the state with checkpoints to check every square inch of cars and trucks to see if they will be imported, if that's what they want give it to them, force them to create their own providence and succeed from the US, as far as I'm concerned it would be on less liberal state

Here's the thing. The 1st amendment doesn't give us the right to free speech. The 2nd amendment doesn't give us the right to own guns. The 4th amendment doesn't give us the right to not be searched without a warrant.
The Bill of Rights list those rights which WE THE PEOPLE have and the government cannot - WILL NOT - infringe. Big concept there. One that is almost always dismissed by the left. The Second Amendment states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Many who oppose individual ownership of firearms point to the "well regulated militia" part of the 2nd amendment and claim that the government can regulate the individual ownership of weapons. But that's not what this means, not at all. The 2nd clearly states that "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" depends on "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" and that this essential right "shall not be infringed". Well-regulated does not mean the federal government forming up militias. Not at all. Well-regulated, when this document was written, had the following context, as found in David McCullough’s historical novel, “1776”: "The day's orders form Sullivan deplored the disorter and unsoldierly behavior displayed in the camps in the eve of battle. Yet soldiers were here, there, and everyswhere, strollin about as if on holiday, some of them miles from the lines. "Carts and horses driving every way among the amry, " wrote Philip Fithian. "Men marching out and coming in... Small arms and field pieces continually firing. All in tumult." The contrast between such disorder and flagrant disregard for authority and the perfectly orchestrated landing By Howe's troops could not have been more pronounced. Arriving at Brooklyn, Washington was outraged by what he saw, and in a letter written later in the day, he lectured Old Put (Gen. Israel Putnam) as he might the greenest lieutenant. All "irregularities" must cease at once. "The distinction between a well regulated army and a mob is the good order and discipline of the first, and the licentious and disorderly behavior of the latter." (Simon & Schuster; page 161) |
