I wouldn't exactly call Nixon the poster child for conservatism.

There are very good reasons why his Medical Disaster Waiting to Happen didn't pass in the liberal 60s

agreed. but I've never heard anyone call him a socialist or communist. there is a legion of people who do this with Obama because of health care. of course, in Nixon's day there weren't any shock jocks with massive audiences like there is now.

It is not just about Health Care, that is the tip of the issue, spending like they do in Europe does not work, Greece is the first to find this out, we are going down the Socialist Path, I did live in Europe for years and I do not want what they have, the Obamanics want that go ahead and move to Europe

I've been thinking about this for a while.

I've decided what I am is an American.

More Jefferson than Hamilton.

Nixon surrendered to Communists in Viet Nam, went to Communist China and re-established relations with Breshnev's Communist government.

But he did all those things for show on the other side of the world.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank and Dodd have ridden a circus train into our backyard and started building the Big Top.

I'll never forget Nixon's China visit.people were outraged. the same kind of outrage that Obama got for extending an olive branch to the Muslim world. the "circus" is Fox, Beck,Limbaugh,Hannity,Palin & the Tea Party.Rove,Cheney[& his clueless daughter] & Gingrich IMHO. if it wasn't so pathetic it would be comical.

The difference between that circus and the one i referenced is that the zoo on the right has no power to legislate.

THE NUMBERS are in, and there can no longer be any doubt that President Obama’s stimulus bill, passed just over a year ago, helped pull America from the brink of economic catastrophe, in part by creating millions of jobs that would not otherwise have existed. All of the major economic research firms that have studied the stimulus’ effect have come to this conclusion. The specific estimates vary, but it’s clear that the stimulus created somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.6 million jobs so far, and will generate around 2.5 million in the long run. (The administration’s generous estimate is 3.5 million.)

Joblessness is still sky-high, of course, and the United States is by no means out of the woods economically. It’s understandable that Americans whose situations haven’t been visibly improved by the bill want to rail against it and outsized government spending, and the stimulus certainly wasn’t without its flaws.

Still, though, it’s ridiculous to deny, as many have, that adding 2.5 million jobs was a poor use of government funds, or that the bill’s other features, which ranged from expanded COBRA health benefits for laid-off workers to money to forestall layoffs of teachers, firefighters, and police officers, helped many Americans to stay on their feet.

Stimulus opponents, often motivated by strictly ideological or political concerns, have repeatedly claimed that the bill didn’t create a single job that the economy wouldn’t have created anyway. This isn’t true, and it should be beyond the bounds of political debate to claim it.

You can really spew the BS as 9.9% of Americans not working is not creating jobs, he has lots millions of jobs no plus in creating until the last few months and it is no where the 2.5 million, what a waste of my $$, same for me paying for others COBRA, just another handout, extending unemployement for upto 96 weeks is a farce, spend baby spend, someone else will pay for this excess, just not Obama.

On a side note, this weekend he will be on vacation vs being at the National Cemetry for our heros, like going hiking during this oil spill, he has a hand on something, not America's best interests, just Unions and the rest of the world

And how much debt did the stimulus create? And didn't Bush already have a stimulus package in place before Obama took office?
