I just dug out my first wedding ring: Plain gold band, 14k, bought sometime in the end of 1971. Pretty sure I paid around $10 for it.

The diamond engagement ring I bought for her, would have been in the spring of 1971, was $125.

As said, rings and doing manual work causes a problem. I use black silicone rings in lieu of my "actual" ring. More comfortable and doesn't rip your finger off when you get it caught on something. Bonus points that they are cheap so if you tear one up, no biggie.

I use my "actual" ring on more formal occasions or if I'm not going to be wrenching on something.

Wife reads me articles about couples "renewing" wedding vows; I tell her that if you have to renew them, they weren't vows in the first place - and after 47 years of faithful marriage I think I've earned the right to be taken at my word the FIRST time.

One of the few arguments I consistently win and then she hands me the laundry basket.

I only see his posts when one of you jabonies quotes him, but they seem to be distinctly "off". Often, they make no sense at all. And he apparently learned how to select emojis from Darkman00 (remember him?). Not only do his comments often make no sense, but the emojis are weirdly out-of-place as well. As for his spelling, grammar, and syntax, all I can do is repeat myself when I say that he is quite obviously functionally illiterate. Hardly what I would consider to be an intelligent and educated specimen.

Stick with what you know. Feed the chickens and collect the eggs. Those dogs could use a good brushing as well. But by all means stay away from the scary horses and leave that to those that aren't hidding with Yadkin under the bed like a little ****.
