Summit Point. Porsche's and BMW's aren't the only things you have to dodge.

Probably in the minority here but I really can't understand why anyone would post something like this or use it as a springboard for one-liners.

There's a lesson in there:

Quote:
The incident “shows how important it is to not to swerve when an animal strike is going to occur. If the deputy swerved, he would have rolled and been injured or worse,” says Sheriff Caulk.

The more you know...

Quote:
There are approximately 1.5 million deer-related car accidents annually.
The cost of these accidents results in over $1 billion dollars in vehicle damage.
There are around 175-200 fatalities every year and 10,000 injuries.
The majority of these accidents occur between October and December, but can happen year round.

On the way to Topsail and Emerald islands, I'll leave the main highway and take State highway 50 through about 40 miles of gamelands. It is miles and miles of thick forest and nothing else. I have seen on or near the road, about a dozen deer per mile on that stretch. I try to avoid ever taking it in the evening or at night. And if I do, I'm driving very apprehensively. I've seen surprising few dead dear on that road though. I imagine the deer strikes are getting scavenged quickly, or folks that use that road are well aware of the deer population.

Some large company had a HQ here in Jax....and wife had a little business running p/u/del over night to the stores, she had keys to all the lock boxes in special locations in many cases behind the stores, I would go with her and carry my .357.....just in case.....never had an issue, but the damn deer in the headlights on some of those back country roads....it was VERY weird seeing them, something being a city/burb kid/background I was not used to.....

Freeky shit.....I can imagine OTR drivers, but a 18 wheeler would spit out a deer with a wash job at the truck stop.....

Good on him! Better than it siting on the side of the road, rotting. Pretty sure we have some roadkill in the freezer still from when my son got an early start to deer season a couple years back.
