I've quit buying firearms, I barely have enough interest now to regularly clean them - my compact M&P Shield in 9mm, my Mossberg 12 gauge (heavily modified) and "built" AR-15 "dissipator" clone are my zombie apocalypse arsenal - the other stuff are vault queens.
Sold my Springfield Hellcat - one of the ergonomically worst guns I've owned, never felt good in my hand. If somebody got me in a headlock and forced me to buy a P365, it might happen though. |

I'm trying to downsize as well but seems like the usual listing places like armslist or gunbroker local have all went wonky. Might have to go old school and consignment at a local gun shop or something.

Ammo will always cost more than weapon, if you actually shoot it.

I thought the claim of expensive was odd... a quick GB.com search for "5.7 ammo" returned 1000 rounds of FN brand for $649.00. Similar pricing for lesser quantities, and different brands... that's expensive.

Heading off in a while to a "Gun Buy Back." I have a 25 yr old 12 gauge I bought in Walmart for $199. Have not used it in 24 yrs.
Getting a $300 visa card for it. |

From what I understand lead-free primers don't have the longest shelf life. I've read 8 years and most of my stuff is coming up on 8 years so I guess I'll find out.
It's a rifle round in a handgun that shoots like a 22. I believe it's the fastest bullet you can shoot out of a handgun. As the sales guy at the gun store said it's the handgun he wants when there's a drive-by and he's got to shoot through car doors they are hiding behind... I go to a gun store in Detroit... The conspiracy was that they went lead free because it was going to replace the NATO 9 mm as the standard gun and they would have NATO on the hook for ammo every decade, but I guess the real problem is lead fouling. |

The 5.7 always surprises everyone at the range especially if they look at the barrel and think its a .22.

Valid. I do enjoy the way 5.7 shoots. It's almost uncannily accurate and flat shooting. I REALLY wanted a PSA Rock as my daily carry, 23 rounds of 5.7 will put in work. I just can't reload it which is kind of a deal breaker for me. And 5.7 is crazy expensive (and getting hard to find). My 2nd choice if money was no object is a 10mm. My very first gun was a full size 10mm Glock. I LOVED that gun, but I had to sell it when I needed funds for my 2nd Cobra motor. I also HATE buying ammo...especially when I have to pay retail for it. So the 10mm and 5.7 being the high end of cost per trigger pull and on the lower end of ammo availability relegate them to safe queen status.

10mm is easy. A quick search says 5.7 is attainable. Do what you wish but don't bitch because you can't be bothered to do it.

Bang Bang Bang
Went to the range today to try out
the 5.7. Learned One thing fast, I gotta wear my prescription glasses when shooting at anything over twenty five yards. The range was packed, had three people firing anything from two ARs chambered in 5.56, an AK and an AR pistol all shooting at the 25 yard backstop. I finally get a chance to shoot and figured I would start with the 5.7. Couldn’t see where the hell I was hitting. After the rifles left for the RIFLE RANGE, (Yes I know they paid their money too) the guy next to me and his girlfriend had a little Ruger 10-22. She finishes reloading and decides to start firing as everyone else is going to check targets. She didn’t get to shoot again. Anyway, stepped up yo the 15 yard mark. Just a hint, if you have fired a full clip through your 5.7, going straight to a 10mm will demonstrate the difference with the first shot. Still hitting low consistently but that was easily fixed by strengthening my grip. I found out the Red Dot will definitely go to the wife. I know, more practice. Then the .45 ACP was up. Bullseye disappeared. I know it doesn’t look that good, but considering this was the first time out in around two weeks,I’ll take it.

Fired my spanking new M&P Shield compact 9mm for the first ime with unfamiliar ammo (as rapid fire as the range allowed) at 10 yards - some firearms just "fit" you perfectly and this is that one for me... That was before my botched eye surgery, I no doubt suck now.
