I liked the show because it was what it was....a team putting together stalled-out projects that were rotting away for years.
Perfection, no, but running driving cars, yes. All it takes is a former underwear model (Bruno), a bald electrician with a tattooed head, and Joe From Chicaaah-go, and the chick-of-the-week, and you're all set. Over the past 4 or 5 decades, I cannot count the number of cars that turned into immobile piles of decaying parts due to 'Paralysis By Analysis' I'd rather have a non-perfect driver that I get years and years of road trips and memories from. |

I watched all the car shows. Even Gas Monkey started out good, until all the $$$$ started rolling in and Rawlins became an even bigger dick with stroking his greasy hair and shouting.
The Chip Foose show would show him polishing a headlight after an entire crew of mechanics, body men, etc...had restored the car. He is and has been stuck in the '80s style forever. The fake setups with the owner, etc...gag. I was desperate to see something on TV though. And all the others with their fake drama, building cars from catalogs, billet and clear coat crap. I was desperate for something to watch. Shadetree Mechanic back in the early '90s on TNN or some network that went away was the only that actually showed and tried to teach you how to repair a car. Later they went all 'infomercial' format selling sponsor products vs good content. I had to hand it to the Brits. They had some decent shows and then brought them to the US or changed for US audience and they went to crap. |

I promise you guys I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty, turn wrenches etc.
My main issues are my work schedule, my lupus causing painful/weak hands/joints and a constant fear of screwing something up. For the most part, my only option is to do this myself, it just may take another 5 years. |

As a retired automotive professional, I have two things to say: Do not be afraid to screw up. We all do, and that's how we learn. It is just a car.
Secondly, as mentioned, one small bite at a time. Each day or evening, do ONE thing for the car, no matter how small. Polish a bolt. Install a bracket. Do some research. I once bought a 1915 Ford in pieces that had sat for 40 years and was driving it within a couple of months, and had completed the restoration in 6 months. I spent about one to two hours each evening on it after work. Before I knew it, it was done. Don't be intimidated: it's just nuts and bolts. A big model kit. Small bites get the job done. |

GTOGuy has the right of it....
I was totally intimdated about restoring the rear end of my 63 and after all the "pros" told me they would put me on a 4-6 month "waiting list" to get them to do it, I got pissed and just started reading manuals and unbolting stuff. Three weeks later, proceeding at a casual pace and triple-checking everyhing, suddenly - it was done and done right with only the best repro components and NOS whenever I could get them...and with all the unique 63-only features that were missing, put back as original. I took a perverse pleasure when a couple of the pros called me back because they so graciiously would fit me in now, when I told them, "Nah....did it myself!" |

There is a Model A at the shop where the jag is. Drivable. Fun car. I have been spoof something every day, like you said, even if something very little. Painted a pile of shims after wire brushing last night. Trust me, Tim and I are not quitters! Just feel like this journey has thrown a lot of curve balls and we just want ONE juicy pitch to swing at! |

Wow!!! I love it! Thank you for the very encouraging words. No offense to the car experts, but encouragement goes a whole lot farther from a novice that has accomplished this than those in the know. Beautiful car. |

We have to get parts first.
As of last night I have a total of $6K in missing parts. Most of which are fairly small parts/hardware. Once I order parts we will be able start making progress. Waiting till insurance adjuster comes next week to confirm what we do/don’t have. |
