Pensions do not reduce SS pre-FRA benefits in any way. Pre-FRA benefits are only reduced by earned income.

You can make $18K a year of earned income without affecting your SS until 66 then there is no limit.

Appears that number changes annually.

If you are under full retirement age for the entire year, we deduct $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit. For 2022, that limit is $19,560.

It does, that was the number when I retired last year. Makes sense it would go up with inflation.

SS and all government pensions (including my VA disability) went up by 8-ish % due to inflation. Well, it takes effect Jan 1 2023.

That's less than half of the real rate.

It may be a slap in the face to real inflation, but I will take it.
Worked many years for substandard pay for my retirement.
Thankful for what little it is.

Why would you be thankful for getting ripped off? If you had been able to invest your and your employers' "contributions", you would have a boatload.

SS hurts the poor the most since it basically ensures that they will have nothing for their families to inherit.

Correct. But, SS is not an investment/retirement plan. It is a tax on those who are earning. And welfare for those who are receiving benefits.

Oh please, stop the BS. Anyone who doesnt like the retirement a member gets is ignorant to what it is.
Military Retirements were contract based. You made it to 20-40 years, you were given a benefit of retirement. Very few do..
If you were injured anytime in the Military, the VA can compensate you via money and of course health care for the ailment.
Now, If I was a fat slob, 23 years old and had a hang nail, Social Security Disability is being sectioned out to that too. It was never intended for so many programs that are there now. Go into an SS office and see the people in there. Feel free to profile many in there. Disgusting. But they think it is an entitlement.
Get a job, honor the contract, and that is that. Damn it pisses me off when people think the military retirement is a BS government entitlement minded program of welfare proportions.

No they did not. I know what you did. And so do you..
They stated they were military benefits which you put it together and and insinuated that if its paid by the Government, then its a welfare. With a question mark as if you had a "gotcha moment"
My retirement is paid via DOD/US Navy through DFAS and the US Navys budget.
