If there was on branch on that limb that I was afraid might cause significant additional damage, I might do a little trimming on that. I don't see anything like that, so I'll wait for the professional and let Geico pay for him!

OIC---you have a wood chipper and can make neighbors "disappear"; but, you cannot chip actual wood?

After 50 years I still have a chainsaw handy. (Its a Stihl 20'' about 10 years old)

As far as going on my roof at 77 not going to happen.

I live rural at the end of over a 1/4 mile long driveway and on occasion a tree or a large branch falls and blocks the driveway. Depending on what my schedule is I either just cut enough to get through, or if I have the time I do the job from start to finish.

I have also been known to hook up a chain to my tractor an pull the offending tree out of the way and do the cutting later!

This. I am constantly coaching clients about trees too close to their homes. The city of Greensboro is the worst. It's basically an urban forest. Have to wear a hard hat in the fall when the acorns are dropping.

The yard around my house, looks like a power line right of way.

Wait, you mean, you are supposed to use a wood chipper to chip "wood"? You mean like 2x4s? Why would anyone do that. What good is a chipped up 2x4?

Sorry to hear about the lady's eye. Yes, pro already called. He seems to be dragging his feet though. He has until Monday morning to respond to when he will make it on site. If I have not heard, I will be calling another pro.

ETA: Pro says he will be here tomorrow, but won't specify time.

Met with adjuster this morning, he is off adjusting. Met with tree guy at 1 pm, he will be back on Wednesday to remove the limb. Frustrating that the thing has been on my house for more than 6 days now, but I am finally getting some progress.

In '96 the Great Ice Storm hit Mayland and I lived in the only house on a cul-de-sac in a new subdivsion and my house was two miles from the only entrance... The loblolly pines got loaded with ice in the branches and fell or snapped in half like rifle shots, my neighbor and I took two days to chain saw the road out of the subdivision and the area lost power for 14 days.

3 40' trees landed on the house and I chain-sawed them off myself. But no more. I thought getting old would take longer.

In FL getting paid for a smaller HO INS claim is tougher, as most policies will have a 2% or 3% deductible, so is your dwelling coverage is $500K, you pay at least the first $10K of damages.
I have seen this change from a $1,000 deductible to where it is now, you can blame fraud and insurance adjusters for the current situation.
I think this will only get higher in the future, as no HO INS company claims to make money in FL, and one major storm in a highly-populated county will bankrupt over 50% of the carriers.

You got the last two backward. I'd be the one grabbing the beer and saying "Wow, someone should really try to save Porter and Zeek." as I plop down on my ass to start into a good drunk. The neighbor would be all

My deductible for wind damage is $700. Right now, they are in the process of making an initial payment of about $6500, but are willing to go up to $11,000 if I spend that much. The tree guy only wants $550, my contractor thinks he can fix everything in two days, he's $100 an hour. There will be significant materials costs. I'll probably do the painting myself. I'm guessing I'm going to get it done for $6500.
