Default Baymax rebuild.

We made it home in 1 piece, and the damage is as to be expected. Only slight deformation to the inner skin of the driver's side fender. Body shop can fix that easily. Car's ready to go to them, but tomorrow we work on that same side front suspension looking for a "clunk". Clunk existed prior to accident. Suspension issue we presume.

Got to love a girl who can fix her own car with no help. As you can see in #2, deformation is minor. Easy fix.

I am jealous I could not get my son to learn how to fix things. He always said he would just pay someone. It is biting him in the ass now.

Nerf bar intact, no deformation. A chunk of foam liner fell out, but is intact.

Frequently a heat gun and some massaging will fix that. Fortunately for us, we have a parts car, so a new fascia is being painted to go back on Baymax. She'll add the fascia and fender to her "broken toy" collection here at the house, currently residing on the shed roof in my lanai.

I've been dealing with this body shop for 25 years. The will ALSO be getting the parts we took off in case they want to grab any hardware or analyze. We will also take our "Big old Miata bucket of bolts..." for them to scavenge if they need to to put it back together.

If they need a reference point, I can always tow Vader over to the shop, but this is truly a pretty easy fix.

I thought/hoped so, but no want to say that, because I not there, and it's not my car/project......

Took some reference photos and will print them out for the shop. Ironically, Vader clearly had a very minor driver front impact, cuz the mounting bracket is slightly bent. Went ahead and took photos of the passenger side for further reference.

Got the other fender pulled to show an undamaged bracket.

Is the Police Department picking up the cost of the rebuild? Even though there was a jeep blocking the Peace Officer's view of the Stop Sign he should have known where the Stop Signs are in his/her assigned area.

Yes they are. We have the police report showing him at fault, they also cited and towed the Jeep. We did the tear down, body shop will paint and reassemble. GWiz will actually net about $500 for the effort, as the shop will pay us what they had to pay for the parts had we not had them.

City of Atlanta self insures. We just have to provide 2 estimates, which I have, or the repair invoice, which I will have. I'll likely be paying for the repair up front, because I'm not sure how fast the city will turn a check around. Will file that paperwork next week. Took forever for them to cough up the printed report.

Almost done stripping Vader of what I want from him. If we don't need any suspension pieces from him, he'll likely go to the junkyard pretty much like he sits. It's actually a really solid body. I might put it on Craigslist for a week or two and see if I can get someone to cough up $200 and come take it away. Otherwise, that's about what I'll get in scrap metal from the yard, but I have to take him down there.

So Skittles is gone, Vader is being stripped for parts and will be headed to a new home or the junk yard, Baymax is being rebuilt and repainted.

Doesn't she also have another car that is not a Miata?
