Tell me you don't know how EVs OR evacuations work without telling me.

In an evacuation traffic moves at about 10mph so that 400 miles is irrelevant. When Houston evacuated, my in-laws sat in ONE SPOT for about 4 hours. No way off the highway. Trapped. Cars were all over the sides of the road that had run out of GAS. God forbid it rains and they have the wipers on eating battery power.

You don't even need to go into that level of detail, Canucks just don't understand how long "America's wang" really is. My ICE Corvette has a highway range of about 250 miles even if nobody gets in my way, and has no ability to drive across water. If I am in Miami, and wish to leave the state of Florida without refueling, I am just plain shit out of luck, by about a hundred miles.

My comments and your comments together add up to a very real reality of mass evacuations from Florida. If the gas stations run empty along the major highways, those leaving late from South Florida are going to be rightfully ****ed.

Generally gas stations are closed during a mass evacuation due to running out of gas and or a power failure.

So in an evacuation scenario, gas or EV…..it doesn’t matter, you’re hooped either way…..no?

Don’t own one and haven’t really looked. Most Teslas have 350+ and I’m sure one or two are 400+ .

Even at 300 miles an EV is competing with many ICE vehicles that will not be able to top up anywhere along the way.

Unlike an ICE car which consumes fule while idling, an EV doesn't consume any significant power while sitting still.

Advantage: BEV.

I have two sisters in Ft. Myers, live in a double-wide community. Stubborn biatches are planning on riding it out in their community building. SMH

My dad is in an assisted living building close to them. That building is nearly new and built like a brick shitter.

Buying a Ding-Dong and a soda does nothing for your now empty fuel tank.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about the ability to buy fuel, not grocery shopping.

On that subject, you’re correct.

Curios though, how do they ring up your milk and bread purchase without power?

Yes, I was addressing the blanket statement that gas stations are closed during a mass evacuation = implying prior to hurricane.

How do they ring up stuff?
sometimes they dont = free, helping other humans.
sometimes they just use their brains and do math in their head and sell goods.

Sometimes they close.
Sometimes they stay open, sell goods, while armed, and watching out for feral looters.

Looks like I, and Simpleman68 are pretty much in the bullseye of this shit show. I've got 2 generators, and just went and bought about 8 different types of extension cords and fuse strips. Already run all of the cords and fuse strips ready to switch over to generator power...to see if I can work tomorrow and Thursday.

Time will tell.
