Default Yay...more things to fix.

2006 (auto) left me stranded at Tae Kwon Do last night. Shifter cable ball socket broke, and the car was in neutral. Thank God the E-Brake still has a little bite.

Wife took me back this morning, I disassembled the entire center console, removed the shifter, and drove home by manipulating the cable by hand.

Bright note, it's only a $55 part ($35 because the dealer sponsors me). Sad note, I have to drop the exhaust and that damn tunnel cover with 600 bolts on it.

I guess I have tomorrow afternoon planned out.

Make sure all the bolts go back in and are torques correctly. That tunnel cover is a stiffener and having a few loose bolts will negatively affect handling.

Ha! I had this same exact occurrence happen on my '07 no more than 2 months ago.

What was weird to me is that it broke when I put the car in park from sport. I would have thought that it would have been the other way around.

Better shot of said tunnel cover. BTW-if you have a C5/6, one of the best things you can do is get a stiffer insulated tunnel cover.

Did you fix it yourself, or have the dealer do it? If dealer, what was the cost? I'm going to fix mine myself, just curious what a dealer would charge. I'm guessing north of $500.

If you could use a hand let me know. I've got a slow day today. Tomorrow works too.

I used to fix everything myself but just didn't want to mess with this so I had it done in a repair shop.

I don't have an exact figure but as far as I can remember it was over $700. Then, after all was said and done, I got the car home and the damn exhaust was rattling. Ended up having to get under the car after all.
