I don't know where it is either. My wife had to have a mechanic pull it so she could get home from 150 miles away. We then took the truck to the dealer and they fixed it and replaced the fuse. I never looked to see where it came from other than I know it's under the hood. Good luck.

I think with all that bad luck eventually you are going to be a lotto winner.

Mine did the same thing also. Replaced the DASH switch in 2007. Never had an issue since.

Leave the fuse in and use the 4x4 when you need to.

Encoder motors dont go out that often. I've only known of 1 that was replaced with all the guys I know and it was because he ran over a log in the field. Log jumped up and bent the motor.

But, 3 or 4 of them including myself has replaced the switch.

Either way, its a simple easy fix.

Re-read all of his post. The 4WD is NOT engaging.

Its #67 under the hood. There is a group of 4 "super fuses". Look on back of your fuse cover.

It would also cause the truck to go into 4 wheel drive on its on and wouldn't let it come out of four wheel drive. There is a fuse under the hood you can pull that will get the truck back in two wheel drive and keep it there.

BTW, ours is a 2005 with 60K miles and it has happened twice.
Well, shit, right there is your answer, mount a switch on/under the dash and run wires to one end of that fuse.....800 dollar swith, screw THAT.....
