Anyone know any decent scuba forums or places to get information on dive trips?

TIA

Hey Mrs. K!!

I'm a member of the ScubaBoard, pretty active one:

ScubaBoard ( I'm PonchoTA on there) and they are putting together right now a big trip to Cozumel that I'm about 90% committed on right now!

There are lots of trips that they organize, and there are a few that have lots of good contacts for making your own plans, and they can find the deals!

Good luck! I got my OW cert at Salty's Cove and many of my dives were up there! BEAUTIFUL diving! Keystone was my favorite, oh and Sund Rock!

Wife and I got our dive cert back in the late 80's and I'm embarrassed to say I've never dove in salt water. We did a lot of fresh-water diving back then but kind of lost interest in it. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of work. When we were taking our dive classes it was late September/October and the water was getting freezing cold. I have no idea how I dealt with that as I despise cold water.

Technology has marched on and I'd have to get totally re-certified before trying it again, although I was sort of a natural at it. The instructor liked me anyway.

But to answer the OP, um, I got nothing.

Oh, I remember how much trouble my wife had taking her mask off and putting back on for the OW cert. She freaked the hell out. I just pulled mine off, put it back on, and cleared it like nothing. She was pissed.

we are headed to Grand Caymans this April. Also scheduled the Epcot aquarium on Feb 21rst after Daytona. Probably take my stuff to Outer Banks in May as well.

Personally your local Scuba shop or join a Meetup.com group for your best bet. I loved Curaçao and BVI. The Caribbean has some great deals going right now. Try cheapcaribbean.com

I am sort of in the same situation. I used to dive a lot. Started in cold water during college and then moved to warm water when I had more money. I have been all over the Caribbean, and on the great barrier reef in Australia. But our last dive was when we got married 9 yrs ago. Had kids, no time. But now the kids are going to grandparents for a week. I sure would love to go diving. But I have been out of it so long, not sure where to go. The benefit is that I don't care about dive location, other than warm and safe. And now that I am old, 2 dives a day would be fine (I did something like 27 in 1 week at the great barrier reef). So I need to get hooked up with information.

Have you used them before. We looked at them, but there are some pretty awful reviews of them. A little gun shy about sites that we have not used before or don't have personal reference from.

We got married at Curacao. Would go back, since it is just before our anniversary. But I heard the "Habitat" is closed and I don't know any other place there.

We got a screaming deal for Curaçao last year. We always buy trip insurance and we had no problems.

Contact Bubbles Below and ask about their recert/refresher class. I think they are still open, or Lighthouse, or 5th Dimension too. Underwater Sports is fairly good, but I'd just rather get equipment or air fills there. Prefer better training.

I got my cert through Starfish, but I think they are defunct, maybe a new shop there though, they are SSI too, better than PADI in my opinion.

Also, absolutely get your DAN Insurance renewed too! That is at a minimum!!

For more info and comraderie, go to a meeting with the Emerald Sea Dive Club! I used to belong when I lived up there, VERY active and supportive group! Best bunch of people you'll ever meet! Monthly meetings posted on their website: Emerald Sea Dive Club

Please let me know if you want any more info, I'll be glad to help if I can!

Now go get wet!!!!

I am....have not dove in years though.

I used to work for the National Association for Scuba Diving Schools all through college and went all over the Carib. Belize is the place to go IMO. After that, Cayman Brac is really nice as well.
