The last meeting Sec of Treasury held was focused on climate change. None of these people are serious or competent in their jobs

Let's get back to the topic at hand.

We kinda skipped over Signature Bank, which was closed and taken over by the Feds yeterday. This is the third largest closure in history. That makes the second and third largest closure in history in a few days, and combined larger than the Washington Mutual failuer in 2008. In fact, 2008 had about $375B in bank failures, and we are at $319B already with these two. Expect more.

Gonna be worse than 2008 for banks. Not sure it has the same effect on the economy. Feds are jumping in fast.

2020 and 2021 both saw record US losses due to climate events. More than 20 $1B+ weather events happened in both years. That is more than triple what they were in 2010.

So, whether you believe in "change" or not, the fact is that the economic impact of weather-related events is massively increasing.

Now, let's get back to banking collapses. Which one is next? Taking bets?

How many of you boomers are headed to your banks this morning to stuff your mattresses?

The feds and this bank own the failure of this bank, which is the topic of this thread. Not weather, not .shit 100 billion went to a proxy war, . Not the topic at hand.
Bank hired incompetent people. Of all the banks in the USA, this one failed when others didnt.
Failed to see they hired the wrong folk

More effects of Trump hate. Had he been reelected, and allowed to do his job, this wouldn't be happening.

Interesting take.

In fact, massive input cost inflation due to tariffs followed by the largest single term deficit spending in history under Trump is what caused the massive inflationary pressure we see now, which drove rates up, which drove bond values down, which crashed SVB. Biden made it worse, but it started with Trump. Econ 101.

The real change is how and why they are tracking the impact of weather on the economy. I'm pretty sure severe weather had an economic impact since the beginning of time. The difference is, that impact wasn't documented to be used as a political tool.

From the beginning of time? Sure.

In the last few decades? Most definitely. And it has gotten much worse relative to economic losses. And considering I make money when there are bad events, they are tracked very closely.

The reason for that increase is the costs.
As an example...In the last few decades, the cost to build a single family home has increased six fold. This is a fact.

No. Those costs are inflation adjusted.

You believe that construction costs of 60k on a new home 30 years ago that’s now 360k is due totally because of inflation?

Yup, my folks house was bought for 56k back in '62 or so, when sis and I sold it some 30 year later we got 375 for it.....today it's a meg and a quarter.....

house I had in the DC region went for 175k and when I sold it FINALLY after 3 years of trying.....I got 175k, all because it had a 3 car garage in the back yard 1/4 acre lot.....

Read that she withdrew that statement Saturday, the day before her stated "End of the World as we know it".
I'm not so sure you can label all of her followers as Democrats.
She has a world-wide following of nut bags.

Well, if they're stupid enough to follow her, they're either democrats or liberals.

Uh, no. It works the other way around.

The reasons those costs have gone up are captured in the inflation numbers. Inflation numbers are an output, not an input.

The data is normalized around inflation data which captures all the lost list of reasons im certain you have good visibility to.

Bla Bla Bla…

Here’s what I have good visibility to…
Costs have increased dramatically over the past few decades. And that makes it easy for the costs data to be used to advance a political climate agenda based on “things are worse than ever before”…
