Default Best place to buy Chev OEM parts?

I need new hood struts for my C6. Zillions of place to buy them online.

Who's the good, bad, and the ugly?

There was a good seller at "that other place" but I don't remember the business name. Was the guy named "Gene" maybe?

Did it come down on your head? How about Napa or Advanced Auto?

I was an AC Delco distributor for many years and just gave my seat up on the new products committee recently. I agree with Rikki, Rockauto is as good as it gets. They negotiate their buy/sell prices with distributors like me to stay at or below the competition plus your search shows all warehouse in their network and sends your parts from the closest supplier that has it in stock.

Ha, no, but it would.

I noticed they were getting weak last fall.

Eh, I bought them a couple weeks ago at a local family-run auto parts, although the father (my age) died a few months ago. But the kid is running the business just fine. They have an amazing amount of stuff in stock although not the struts, got them the next day. But they do have parts for my 1951 6-volt Fergie tractor.

Don't remember what the struts cost, doesn't matter. The nearest auto parts chain is 16-18 miles away, vs. 4 for here, I drive by it nearly every day and always support family businesses when possible.

I finally got around to putting them in today -- tough job! All I needed was a screwdriver to get the old ones off, noobs just snap into place.

Call around and negotiate with the Chevy dealers. Many new car parts departments are very competitive.

I agree with Rikki, rockauto .... I just bought AC Delco cabin and engine air filters at rockauto, both cheaper than one of them was at the GMC parts counter.
The parts guy there told me to go to rockauto.

If cost doesn't matter then why not just have gotten them at the Chevy dealer ?
I don't care how much $$ someone has,to not get a better price is beyond me.

Plz read post #11, 12, and 13. There you will see why I didn't buy them at the dealer and why I didn't care what the price was.

As I recall, the local guy's were at the lower price end anyway.
