bilmem LOL - Saints Fans are suing the NFL

Quote:
The world spins forward. But some New Orleans Saints fans want it to go backward.

NBC affiliate WDSU first reported on Monday that a Saints-related lawsuit had been filed in New Orleans Civil District Court. The suit seeks to have NFL commissioner Roger Goodell enforce a rule that would allow the end of the disputed Saints-Los Angeles Rams game to be replayed due to the missed pass interference call late in the fourth quarter. The Saints lost that game in overtime, and many fans blame the missed call.
Lawsuit wants the game replayed

According to the New Orleans Advocate, Saints season ticket holders Tommy Badeaux and Candis Lambert hired a local personal injury lawyer to file a lawsuit against the NFL and Goodell on their behalf, and on behalf of the entire “Who Dat Nation.” The suit claims that Saints fans suffered incredible damages from the missed call, including mental anguish, emotional trauma, loss of enjoyment of life, and more — including a loss of faith in the NFL. Here’s a snippet of the damages section of the suit, via the Advocate:

“As a direct result of the said incident, plaintiffs herein have been left bereft and with no faith in the National Football league for fairness despite the league’s own rules to correct such errors, along with emotional anguish, monetary loss for ticket holders, who purchases tickets with the presumption of integrity and fairness.”

Who knew you could sue over losing faith in the NFL? Once people realize that, the NFL will be up to its neck in lawsuits.

The suit doesn’t specify any recourse, financial or otherwise. But the Advocate reported that the suit did note rule 17, section 2, article 3 of the NFL rulebook, which gives Goodell the power to have a game or part of a game replayed due to “extraordinary circumstances.” A blown call is far from extraordinary, but some Saints fans obviously believe this particular blown call is different than every other blown call that has ever happened in the history of the NFL.
Who is the lawyer behind the lawsuit?

Get ready for this guy. The lawyer hired by Badeaux and Lambert is Frank D’Amico Jr., a personal injury lawyer in New Orleans. And like many local personal injury lawyers, his commercials have a lot of … character.

In the fans defense, one does trust the officials to make sure a fair game was played. They clearly screwed the pooch in that game and did in fact alter the outcome of the game.

If it was a regular season game, I would tend to go with "too bad, so sad". This game was for who was playing in the "big game".

If they do decide to play all or a portion over, where do you start the do over? resume the game with under two minutes left? Everybody has had a chance to rest, it would not be the same.

All this lawsuit does is prove the nfl and officials just don't care. If they did, it would have been addressed shortly after it happened.

To their credit, the Saint's indeed got dicked over. BIG TIME.

Chiefs got dicked on some calls as well. Specifically a "roughing the passer" call against the Chiefs defense for literally TOUCHING Tom Brady on the shoulder. It was completely absurd.

That said, this lawsuit will go nowhere. There is a soft fix on the NFL, and the refs absolutely do, intentionally, control the outcome of games.

There was a similar lawsuit years ago that the NFL won. They have specific wording in their bylaws/constitution that it is "Sports Entertainment"

The only other "sport" that has similar wording is the WWE.

It's a complete joke, it's about television ratings and catering to the big markets.

That said, I am still "entertained" by it.

Well I for one feel that the Saints should not have been in a position that one play made the difference of the outcome.

I’ve been in Louisiana for the past few days. The butthurt down here is palpable. The news programs are still spending a great deal of time covering it. I see that replay in my dreams.

They gots the screwd, that’s for sure.

If you review every play, you can call a penalty on every play. Football games are 4 hours now. Who can say what penalty is a game changer ? The non catch ruling cost the Cowboys a shot at the SB a couple of years ago. Shit happens.

score enough points - build enough margin - to where a bad call or two won't cost you the game.

Hard to do when you are constantly playing against 11+ players on the other side of the ball... especially when some of the opposition are wearing black and white striped uniforms.

Back in the 50's, when I was in small digit ages......I used to love watching pro wrestling on TV.....B&W daze of course, so it looked ok to me.....

then Dad took me to see a match in some arena, I forget where, and we in the audience about a dozen rows back ....the guys parade in and I see them live, all made up like queers, so much cosmetic crap, and oddball colors to the uniforms/costumes what a joke, then to witness the shit LIVE and close enough to see the BS......

It woke me up about sports, which I was no good at anyway, because of lousy spine being very fragile.....so much of it is just a stage act....
