Drove from St Louis to Wisconsin yesterday afternoon I55 southbound was jammed. We were joking that they must have decided to evacuate Chicago but I am sure s lot of them were folks heading into S Illinois and Missouri to see the eclipse

I saw lots of roadway signs starting around Montgomery and north. No stopping for eclipse and use headlights during eclipse messages.

Record traffic jams expected nationwide today. No thanks to traveling.

i'm staying home. have some outside work to do, and some shop work to do. already got the water moved for the day. cloudy with a chance of rain here.

we live in an area with an average of 300 sunny days a year....so it's cloudy what day?

When I left last night we were down to 33 cars and 42 SUV's @ the airport. That put us about 50 shy of the anticipated rentals (we weren't getting the anticipated returns). Some peeps are out there rockin' Cadillacs, Mercedes's, Infinity's, Jaguars, and Land Rovers that didn't reserve them- it's all we had to give them.

Madras Airport looks like Van Nuys.



And yes, I-5 rest stop @ Santiam is jammed- rest stop, adjoining fields, and yes- the emergency lanes on I-5.

I'm sitting at my volunteer job at the hospital. Big room with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Right now there are light clouds around where the sun is. I'm going to just stay inside and watch the room go a little dim.

Only three people scheduled surgery today.
