Hellacious weather here Sunday night

Couple of confirmed F3 tornadoes hit the area from 11:15 to 12:00 midnight. My neighborhood suffered minimal damage. I lost a little siding and an awning, lots of broken limbs and scattered lawn furniture.
My son's apartment complex ten miles or so from here was hit much worse. Lots of roof damage. A car wash about a hundred and fifty yards away was sucked up, drug through the woods, between two buildings, over one, and dropped into the parking lot in front of his apartment. His van suffered a broken window but that was all. Very lucky. The last pic is where he usually parks.
A couple of neighborhoods were hit a lot harder. Hundreds of homes damaged and destroyed. It tore a path about nine miles long.















Luckily we only lost two lives here in Chattanooga. Five were lost in Murray County a couple of towns over.

Brother lives in the Athens Tennessee area and cousin lives in Ringgold.

I stayed up to 2am. One popped up in the county next to me and did some damage. Another in the next county over (Murray) that killed 7 and injured 20 something. They were popping up all around me. I've had a few close calls in my lifetime with them and witnessed the aftermath. They are terrifying around here. I've heard the stories from my first responder friends. They are horrific. One poor guy was blown into a barbed wire fence and it was wrapped and embedded deep into his body. One entire family back in '74 sucked out of their house several hundred feet into the air. Only the son managed to survive it with horrible injuries somehow. Yes, they do sound like a train in your backyard about the run the crap over you.

I knew you lived around there but I was thinking Hixson for some reason. Anyways glad you're ok. We went down to the basement when I heard it was going through Ooltewah and McDonald. We didn't see any real damage just some roof shingles gone.

We hunkered down for a couple hours in the basement between 1am and 3am. ATV helmets and all. Storms that strong scare the crap out of me. We are in Ball Ground just north of Canton Georgia.

We had an EF4 about 60 miles from here. 1000 yards wide and went 10 miles. Picked up a house intact, and put it on Hwy 74....oh, about 100 some odd feet from the foundation.

I got the alert at 11:18. We had two of the grandkids there so gathered them up and took shelter til after it passed. Then I went outside and did a walk around. Always eerie with nothing breaking the silence except sirens and the occasional transformer popping off in the distance.
The last time (2011, I think) hit closer to my neighborhood. Lots more trees down then.
Still some power out today in some areas from Sunday night and may still be a few days yet.
