A burr was the first thing I thought of too, but I think he would have found that when he polished it. Also it can be just a slight "high spot" too, that's really hard to spot. Anyway, I'm curious as to what that new spring will do. It may be enough to overcome whatever issues are going on. Hell, it may be the issue.

Did you clean and lubricate the weapon before you headed out to the range? I have found all manner of manufacturing filth inside new guns over the years. Don't forget to disassemble and clean/deburr the insides of the magazines as well. Also I find most 1911s I have dealt with like to run a bit "wet". I run a Q-tip full of my fave oil inside the slide grooves, on the area the disconnector rides on and inside the bushing. The frame gets a swab on the rails and a drop in the hammer pivot area.

Failure to feed is almost always a magazine problem as long as the feed ramp is not rough as a cob. DO NOT polish or file the little shelf at the top of the ramp away as it is essential to making the bullet nose jump the gap to the chamber. Leave the top edge sharp for best functioning.

Extractor tension is adjustable... see youtube for advice, and you can also find how to tune the ejector so the brass goes where you want it to go (instead of down your shirt).

You do not mention what you were using for ammo... I break new 45s in with factory 230 grain hardball for at least 200 rounds, then determine what defensive load works 100 percent.

Yes I did clean it before taking it. I ordered 2 kimber mags for this 45 I did not file anything just polish ammo used was winchester JHP.

Some 1911's have trouble with HP ammo, as they were originally designed to feed Ball Ammo. I would start out by shooting quite a bit of Hardball to break it in, and then try a variety of JHP SD ammo to see what it likes. Try Gold Dots, Golden Saber etc.

I think the quality is about the same probably made in the same factory..


Update: I tightened up the extractor because it was to loose now it holds the 45 round semi tight and when you shake the slide it will drop out prior to that it would drop out as soon as I turned the slide over. Hope this improves the extraction ejection issue.

I have read about these problems on another forum, and most people have gotten the best results by contacting the manufacturer. Many of them who sent the guns back had good luck with the returned guns, which got extensive improvements at the factory. Some came back working like custom tuned guns. Maybe worth a try.

If I had anything with a 170 of 200 failure it would go right back to the manufacturer.
That is insanely unacceptable. That is useless as a defense weapon and useless as a range toy. If you start to mess with it, they may not warranty it.
