You like B-52s?
Jets are in and out in a second, but in these clips youll see a howling B-52 fly pretty fast, but not so fast that you cant enjoy its beauty. Let me tell you, its a pretty sight to see indeed.
B-52s have a top speed of about 650 mph, but of course it wasnt going that fast. Whats impressive from that angle and height is this planes size however: 159 ft. long and 185 ft. from wingtip to wingtip, this bomber demands respect. Its propelled be a whopping eight Pratt & Whitney TF33-P-3/103 turbofans, which it definitely needs. 185,000 lbs. empty and able to load up about 70,000 lbs. of bombs, this thing can ferry them over 10,000 miles. |

Had to suck; in a jungle or desert, looking up and seeing those contrails as they approached the target zone. And you're the target zone.

I spent much of my career at Boeing (Defense and Space Division) developing upgrades for the BUFF. It is an old airplane, but has been upgraded continuously over the years ... avionics, communication, weapons delivery, etc... It is one hell of an airplane.

B-52 mafia can suck it!!!! Here is a real airplane. I worked on 'em and flew on one too!
This aircraft 089 was one of our birds here in GA. My buddy Mike Keith was the crew chief on it. Until active duty stole them from us. If you've never seen one in person, you have NO CONCEPT how loud they are in full blower!!! |

I just totally sad that I never had a chance to play/work/enjoy/fly with the BEST toys......still pisses me off in that I could have flown a desk at least and maybe got a ride once in a while....
an old friend flew C130?? in VNam and graduated to B52 before retiring.... I remember an old air show in DC at Andrews....setting on a HOT day under the friendly wing of a B52 getting to look inside from the ground..... and after some cloud cover delays, a B2 flying over....that stealth V wing wonder.....coming out of the clouds dead silence....he paralleled us and the sound picked up a bit.....he was LO, really LO.....when he went past us we were damn near blown off our seats.....LOUD does not describe it..... |

The book, "Proud to Be: My Life, The Airforce, The Controversy " by Kelly Flinn, the first woman to pilot a B-52, gave interesting info on the B-52.
https://www.amazon.com/Proud-Be-Life-Airforce-Controversy/dp/0375501096/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1476616536&sr=1-1&keywords=Kelly+Flinn The plane is massive but the crew is packed in like sardines. The priority being bomb load. The plane has unique landing procedures because of it's size. Don't think I would want to pilot one. |

We should have sent one or two B-52's fully loaded from Missouri or wherever they are stationed to deliver a care package to the Houthi's in Yemen who fired repeatedly on our warship. Walk softly, but carry a big stick is an excellent foreign policy. Be good neighbors. Don't go looking for trouble, but if trouble finds you, hit back, massively. Hell, hit back yuuuugely! |
