Ha, loved that show when it came out and still do. I watched that episode in the past couple months on FreeTV.

I was 21 the year that All in the Family came out (1971). I was pretty young, there was no internet, and I was not political at all.

I realized that Archie was made out to be an old-fashioned buffoon in most ways, but I always agreed with him politically. As a young man, it all made sense to me.

He was made out to look like a total idiot, but, arming the passengers was a real answer.

And then I found out at some point that Carroll O'Conner was actually a liberal. Wow.

So few people ever realized this. The show itself kept it's mouth shut because it realized that it's fans identified with Archie and not their Meathead hero. I realized before the end of the show and found it too annoying to keep watching.
