Default GWiz dodged a bullet going to GT too...

This happened 1-2 hours after she passed through the area. I-75 shut down in both directions.

When the hell will we place an emphasis on distracted driving? Too many people are dying needlessly. (note: not implying that was the cause of this wreck, but we ALL see it on the roads all the time). (Put the effing phone down). Driving on the interstate is easy. Y'all are going the same speed...stay in your lane, use your turn signal to pass, and suppress your devices.

GWiz said Downtown Atlanta was a zoo, and she got there around the 3 pm hour. 50+ % of drivers I've seen in Atlanta are on their effing phones.

On a bright note, Baymax did just fine. He suffered from some heat soak when she stopped for gas, meaning she had to let him sit a bit before the starter would start, but other than that he was great. Skittles has the same issue. Not sure the headers, cats and new exhaust help the heat issue, but if my memory serves me right, they are on opposite sides of the engine...but the heat gets trapped under the hood.

No biggie, and zero issue for a commuter car for the semester, but something to continue to diagnose. Also, she wants a stiffer front swaybar like Skittles has. The noise she's been hearing turned out to be tires rubbing on fender liners. Stiffer swaybar will eliminate that easily.

Heat shield or wrapping the header would solve that issue.

We discussed that exact diagnosis earlier today. Not quite the same as a V8 Corvette, with headers out of both sides, thus forcing the starter to be near heat, but still the same concept. Race car starter is wrapped the fuck up and the headers are wrapped up. Christ, it melted my clutch line once.

Maybe I'm comparing apples and oranges, but a long time ago I had a '69 Fairlane with a 302 with headers that had the same problem. New starter solved the problem. Mechanic told me it was a common problem. It was the original starter which was about 14 years old.

Do you have information on whether it was distracted driving. I know there is a homicide investigation. It was horrific.

Geez... glad she didn't get caught up in that mess.

Old VW Rabbit used to get vapor lock and I finally wrapped the fuel lines where they were exposed to the most heat. That made things a LOT better.

I used to carry a little 10 mm wrench with me to crack a fuel line at the distribution block and then she's start right up.

That stretch of I-75 from I-10 to the toll road is crazy. We just drove it taking the RV to Tampa for the bowl game. Multiple delays/wrecks/fires both directions. It added an hour on the way down and 45 mins on the way up.

It was the same way when we went to Disney a few years ago.

I was hoping for some improvement, but i think it was worse.

Glad she didn't get caught up in that!

Ever since the invention of the smart phone, driving became much more dangerous. I-75 is a very unreliable route to take for this reason. The "too" part of this was a continuation of when I towed up to get my daughter's car back home for the repair over xmas break, and the southbound lanes were a nightmare all the way from Fort Myers to Atlanta. Saw 12-15 accidents, including a corpse on the highway covered in a sheet.
