There’s already a mechanism in place in many states where your records can be “expunged,” however, this only applies to job applications in the civilian sector. In many situations you won’t have any issue getting a decent paying job. However, there are many sensitive law enforcement and federal jobs that won’t hire convicted felons or even misdemeanants. These jobs require access to sensitive information, and if you used poor judgement once, you could use poor judgement again. By the way, it doesn’t just mean your criminal record. Many government entities will look at your entire life history including your social media and if you demonstrate poor judgement or lack of character they can disqualify you on that basis as well.

We live in a society where they let felons out of prison because they say prisons don't work, bull ****ing shit. The death penalty, water boarding and never negotiating with terrorists works well too. When people realize there could be serious consequences for their actions, word will get around fast. So to answer your question, yes I believe punishment should carry the rest of their lives.

So potential criminals just aren't aware that jail time could be a result? They simply don't know any felons that struggle to find a job otherwise they would be deterred from doing crime?
I think we would need to execute people for these minor crimes in order to see any noticeable deterrent effect.

Sure, that might be a good start. It would certainly get the word around fast.

I'm all for the death penalty. If we still normally hanged horse thieves, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much crime as there is today.

This law stops factual information from getting to those who have good reason to know it. Shouldn't an employer know whether candidates are convicted felons or not? They will be responsible for many of the employee's actions. Given two otherwise equal applicants, doesn't a person who is not a convicted felon deserve the job more? Would you rather your mother be cared for by a convicted felon or someone who has never been in trouble with the law? How about a convicted thief to move your posessions from one house to another? Is it cool if the person managing your finances was convicted of identity theft? Want to hire a person convicted of embezzlement to run the books for your company? Don't you think you should have the right to know if you are about to take such a risk?

As is typical with the left, the sypathy is entirely for the criminal with no thought given to the externalities of, "help." I'm sorry if your life is harder after you are convicted of crimes, others should still have the right to know the facts and decide if you are worth taking a risk on. Robbing of them of the factual information to trick them into making uninformed decisions that favor convicts is not the right answer.

It's already been said, but the only reason for this is to expand the (D) voter pool.

Liberal shithole cities are already talking about allowing illegals to vote. Commies will burn down the country in their quest to increase their hold on power.
