Default My first time building a structure
Building an 8'x16' shed behind my garage to put a big compressor in and store parts. Enjoyable time working with my Dad. When working on cars, he mostly just watches me work as he isn't much of a mechanic, but he has good experience in construction and I really don't so he has been a huge help. Next up is making trusses. Too bad I have a job that gets in the way of getting things done.

If we did that here the legal way, it would require 11 blueprints and engineers' seal. Then plan review. you are lucky.

I had to permit the house (PITA )
But the barn and any other structures on the property do not need a permit. A nice benefit of agricultural classification.

Good idea for noise suppression what did you put between the bottom board and the cement?

I would have put a header above the door and beef up around the door.

Best to put tar paper or shingle between to keep from wicking moisture and rotting the wood.

Obviously everyone wants a light and airy look for their air compressor shed. But without a roof or walls, your neighbors will be able to see you naked inside.

One of the last threads I read at CF was some dude in Jersey with 10 acres asking for advise building a small outbuilding on his land. He said he already got a lawyer for it. A lawyer. Absurd. Either the guy is nuts or the laws there are nuts, or both.

My property is classified as Suburban Ranch. I can do just about whatever I want. Only restriction that played a part here is a 10' setback from the property line, which you can see in the pics as the barbed wire fence.

Sounds like a valid reason for walls, but I'm still not seeing a reason for a roof.
