What do you all use for pesticide spray around your homes? Anyone here use Pestie? Or are you all old school orkin/terminix/call-the-guy customers
Just noticing I've got some box elders starting to wander around my back porch and thinking I should do something preventative. Spray something, sprinkle diatomaceous stuff, idk. Has to be pet safe.

Only have annoying insects here in the north for 4-5 months out of the year, so don't use pesticide except sometimes when I'm out walking to keep ticks off me.

Got tick bites twice this year (first time ever) in the spring so was using it for a while after that, but don't bother with it anymore, too stinky and messy.

They are just enjoying your porch not hurting anything. As long as they don't try to install a hot tub or rent your house out all good.

I look for the ambulance chasing ads for stuff like round up etc. Whoever is being sued for peddling dangerous stuff, that’s my go to product.

The bugs here that we don't care to have in the house, are spiders, ant and beetles. The vermin are mice and pocket gophers.

We have a service that places mouse houses, and sprays pet-safe chemicals at the foundation line. There was a huge difference in inside bugs after they started. The mouse houses have not been as fruitful, but that's ok because they're not in the house either. The gophers are mine

I use Paragon Conquer, Zoecon Precor IGR, BASF PT Ultracide and Rockwell Labs Cimexa dust insecticide. Safe for pets once dry. I can't use flea/tick products on my dog, so I have to be proactive in treating the house and yard.

Talstar has worked well for us. I used to do it myself, but after a mouse invasion last year, we called ”the guy” & he takes care of the bugs as well.

My BIL, who just moved here from Upstate NY Wednesday, wants to kill
all the box elder bugs congregating in the patio door slides.

I told him "wait a week or 2 until the first frost. They'll be gone"

Dip shit went to Home Despit today for bug spray.

The only thing I’ve had an issue with is small ants. And only when it gets warm outside.

I use diatomaceous earth around my entire foundation. Since we don’t get a lot of rain, it stays in place a long time. There are mountain lions and bobcats (and other animals) around here and don’t want pesticides to impact to their food chain.

Occasionally, when I do see a few, they can’t get to the pet food or water because I have their food bowls on a tray with these “big snub” feet on the bottom. They’re a little pricey for what you get. They don’t seem hard to make. And the gel packets you get with them is just petroleum jelly. Anyhow, they work really well.

Edit: I don’t use their brand of tray. I just used a food tray I already had.

I don't use poison on my properties. My mom would scream like murder when she saw a bug. Sprayed RAID around the house like it was air freshener... Could ask her if it worked but cancer ended her 40 years ago. I don't wonder why.

The Piedmont is termite heaven so Phil was the guy, locally owned business, $85 visit every three months. Cheap insurance.

Here in the mountains we get some kind of disgusting worm that crawls under the garage door. Casey is the man to take care of them, again a local business. He does not bait for mice, per my instructions, since we have owls and foxes that hunt them for me.

I built that 12x16 structure for a man in 2016. I told him to build it with CMU like the garage we attached it to. He said no because it was a temporary structure. He was correct.
