Default Pros and cons of leasing

Chevrolet has a leasing deal for $199/MO
2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lease $199 Mo $0 Down Available
https://dsrleasing.com/2020-chevrole...-lease-199-mo/
Looks like it adds up to around $10k at the end of 3 years
Any thoughts?

I'm not a fan of leasing because I put more miles on my cars than what they allow per year plus I tend to keep cars for 10 years or more. Example, I have a 2010 Enclave and a 2008 Lexus ES350 with no plans of replacing then (yet). I did buy the wife a 2019 Honda Pilot last year though so we'll keep that a while until we need to replace it or replace another one.

You'll be out 10k and a truck then... I'm not a fan of leasing myself, works for some for example my SIL leases. Seems like she always gets a POS though.

Other than business expense if you can and affordable payments, leasing is like a really long test drive. If no issues maybe buy it at the end if price is right. If it’s a lemon after three years, get a new one

My 2011 Acadia has 165k on it and needs the dreaded timing chain repair.
I can do it with ease, just time consuming and I can think of better things to do with my time
And as a rule I also am not a fan of leasing, just that fixing cars is getting old

Wow, my Enclave has 186K on it and so far no issues. I change my oil every 5,000 miles using Mobil 1 though... may be extreme but I've considered it cheap insurance.

All 3.6 engines have the tight side of the timing chains pulled over a arced guide that wears causing the cam to fall back and the position sensor reads it as a problem turning the SES lite on.
Most Show up after 150k

When the light comes on with the timing chain code it reduces engine power so I carry my scanner and clear the code as needed

3 years = 36 months

36 months @ $199/month = $ 7,164.00

What am I doing wrong here?

Call or stop by your local dealer to see if that deal is legit. If it is, and if works for you, pull the trigger.

Or have your husband do it.

Mrs. DAB's 2002 Subaru still runs fine. my 2013 chevy 2500HD just got an oil change.

so at least 7+ years without making a car payment is nice. just maintain them well. even paying the dealer to do that work is cheaper than payments.

I have leased through Ally before, and would never do that again. Car loan, yes. Lease, **** no. Unless you've died, they will not let you out of your lease before the due date.

All good advice
I would like to re-pave my driveway and I'm on 20 years of a 20 year roof
Acadia is working but needs work
Vette has an oil leak, drop the engine to repair that
I'm just looking at options
Maybe I'll waiy until the fall to get a pick up

This is not through GM?
2020 models? Are these leftover units or 2021 not out yet?

Leasing worked well for me in the past. Got something new every 2 yrs. It was always a no money out of pocket and 15k a year though. Maybe those days are gone.

I've done both.

Lease vehicle: Wash every couple of month by hand vacuum once a year, no wax.

Owned vehicle: Wash twice a month and always vacuum, wax twice a year.

I wonder what loan payments would be if you traded the old vehicle and added the lease buy in for a down payment? Want to bet it won't cost a hell of a lot more per month to buy it than rent it? Then at the end you still have the vehicle, the residual value is yours to keep and it should live awhile longer especially if you drive less than the allowed mileage per year.

You can still get those deals if you ask for them.

Was going to try a lease in 2020 but with putting over 200 miles a week just to watch grandson it would have totaled more miles then the lease would allow....never have leased but I figured I could have gotten 3 or 4 new vehicles for the amount one new one would have cost.
