Haven't used it but if I did I'd put it inside a nylon or cheese cloth to make a bag that can be beat on to distribute powder on everything. Reason being they carry food back to the nest and store it there to feed the rest of the colony. Could be more effective than just tracking it back on their feet since they have a tendency to avoid paths that become disrupted. They'd search for a way around piles of the stuff. Also seems that watering will wash it down into the soil requiring frequent reapplication.

You live in the damn Amazon jungle? How are ants doing damage to your plants? They pollinate and do all sorts of good crap outside; including crap.

Right…..

There are so many they’ve begun burrowing through the roots and infecting cactus, young vegetables, and my 40+ year old Ponytail palm plus others….. They stir up the dirt I guess allowing to much oxygen into the root systems.

I’ll pick up some diatomaceous earth asap!

Spray this all around the perimeter of the greenhouse, and on the greenhouse floor. Not directly on the plants, though.

That stuff is a very fine powder, like flour. Make damn sure no pets can have access to it.

You sure that's ants? WTF does "infecting" mean? Too much O2 to the roots? Damn, depending on where you're at, I'd get an extension uni to come out and look. What you describe sounds bizarre unless there are ants in your area that attack flora.

It’s the heat that draws them in… I have had two space heaters running all winter, average temperature at 80*+/-. Also the floor is made of brick over a sand bed. Their colonies have moved from the brick floor up into the plants and flowers. The ant hills in the potting soil’s are in selective plants but big and many.

I’m really thinking the heat is the main attraction.

Up north in the sandy area I live in heavy rain puts them into the house. Happens a few times a year. Just something you expect! As we have a cat we used those ant baits and there in a area the cat can not get to.
Ants affects everybody up here from the multi million dollar house to a welfare shack.

We have those demonic fire ants in Florida, by the time your realize you've trapsed across one of their anthills, the soldiers have already fired your ass up, biting your ankles and calves and heading north for Big Jim and the Twins. You have to strip off and get rid of the little f*ckers right quick or you'll have itchy painful bites lasting hours.
