I've never had tendonitis in my achilles tendon, I have had it in both arms though. Part of my left foot is numb from a herniated disc that included an 18mm piece separated. It seems that is applying some pressure on a nerve into my foot. Anyways it has caused me to walk slightly different although visually you can't see it. You can hear it though when my left foot hits the floor there is a light slap sound to it. I suspect this has caused some added stress to other muscles in my foot which must be compensating for the parts that have no feeling. Anyways I just noticed it hurting one day about 9-12 months ago. It's taken me this long to get my Tri-care switched from Prime to Select, then get a new primary care Dr and then him to send me to the sports med Dr. I had to wait because of the Rona to see him. I suspect it's from all the stairs at work. We have 24 flights and it's up one set down another and up again while carrying a back pack containing respirators, tools, etc.

The knot is hard as a rock and usually doesn't hurt too much but that depends on how many flights of stairs I've been on that day. I have had a feeling of rubber bands snapping in there before.

A guy I work for had back surgery to remove some benign tumors that were pressing on the nerves in his back. He went in walking and came out using a cane and he's getting worse, he almost needs a walker now. The DRs aren't helping him at all. One did recommend something like what you've stated above. Of course it's not covered either and they don't give any guarantees. They just say, yep your a candidate for this type of therapy, but can't promise anything. He's about given up hope of ever walking normally again.
