This is going to be a serious storm. It looks like Beaumont/Orange, TX is going to get the direct hit, but we in Houston are still not out of the woods. These things usually wobble a bit when they get close to land, and if it comes farther wet, it could be bad for us. At least we should avoid widespread flooding. Our Louisiana folks are going to get the worst of the flooding, in addition to East Texas.

We are working a half day, then getting prepared. I still need gas for my generator.

I have been to Lake Charles LA a few times to do acceptance inspections on aircraft. When I was still military, one of our planes got jacked up there when Katrina hit. Not sure which ones are there now, but they better batten down the hatches.

Update. Looks like it's set to hit Sabine Pass, give or take, which is the TX-LA border. That puts Beaumont, Lake Charles, probably even Lafayette in the crosshairs. Barring something completely unexpected, it looks like Houston dodged this one, but from what I am seeing....Laura is going to be a storm that people will remember by name, like Andrew, Camille, Ike, Rita, etc.

Barksdale AFB flew their planes out yesterday and today.

Was watching a live stream from Jeff Piotrowski. I believe he’s in Lake Charles. This came across as he was streaming from the top of a parking structure. (Eye was passing over.) Someone on the stream commented and said they think it’s the Capital One Tower.

Chennault AFB was in Lake Charles, it's still a private airfield with Norfolk Grumman there....and.... a technical college/trade school is there, along with a few other industrial businesses.

That building with all the blown out glass, talk about STOOOOOOOPID arkyteckure.........HOO in hell design something like that in a hurry-cain zone like that, they gulf coasts get hit by 100+ mph winds maybe 5 times in a year.....??? so lets build a steel skeleton in a very wet location, and make the walls out of glass......
