Painting gloss black
Need a little advice on painting gloss black. I've done several metallics, but never a just a gloss color. Do you spray, wetsand, then clear it? Or do you spray, then clear, with no wetsanding between the color coat, and the clear coat?
My thinking is wetsand between color coats, spray the last color coat, then clear it with no wetsanding between the last color coat and the clear coat. On the right track or no?

I've got a little experience with black
Clear should be applied over the base within 24 hours of the initial application. I like to spray 3 coats of base with about 20 minutes between coats and let it dry for about an hour. I don't sand it before clearing because I think it kills some of the color. If you have any dust nibs in the color coat use some fine scotch brite to rub them out. I like to leave a little black base in the gun when I spray the first coat of clear. This basically makes it a tint coat and adds depth to the color. Clean the gun and apply 2 more wet coats of clear. Sometimes if I think the clear is a little dry looking I will dust some additional clear on the part. Hope this helps.

I knew the "master of the black arts" would chime in with some pearls of wisdom.
Thanks Gary!
