I lived in DC, my ex is from Lonk Ilant......

Sayville, they used to sail hell out of the south bay in the cruising club races....

Gene, Sayville is still nice if you don't mind $15-20$k taxes yr/modest prop. Aside from the east end and parts of the n. shore the rest of it has gone to hell - if you were traveling from DC to LI then you took the same road that shark does after u get off the Verrazano

Jeebus, my ex inlaws sold in like '80 or so, paying some 8 grand/year prop taxes on a 65k house on a creek with detached 2 car gar, and 5 bedrooms, so it was a nice house but not all THAT upscale....but having their 34' Morgan in the back yard was a huge plus....I remember a 7-11 at end of their creek....short sail to south bay....the mother/my kids granny died a few years ago, but ex FIL is still alive at ~85 in a nursing home....

and here I thought 500/month was high, when in DC we bought our first house with less TOTAL PITI than that.....

taxes in Montgomery Co. Md....on my old ~1500' house were like 800/year here it's 700 including trash pickup same size house.....TODAY my old house is 4500/year holy SHIT!@!!!!!
