The problem is that these "enlightened" liberals are so delusionally self righteous that they are completely unable to see the difference between what they believe and a fact. To them, they are 1 and the same. There is their way, and those who are wrong. They are so simple minded that they can't seem to process anything beyond that.

It makes perfect sense that they can't understand the value of multiple points of view being taught on any subject since anything other than theirs is simply wrong.

I am absolutely mortified that BASIC established scientific theories like evolution and the big bang theory are being dismissed here like this.

I'm actually embarrassed to even be participating in this discussion.

Well you started it, so I guess we know how you can prevent that in the future. The fact that this is the first time you have been embarrassed by something you have posted tells us more about you than it does us.

We're not dismissing those theories. We are defending parent's right to influence the quality and content of their children's education.

Taken to the extreme, your position could be restated as "No one should teach anything that is not on my preapproved list of ideals, concepts, and theories." That concept should be as much of an anathema to you as it is to me.

Sounds a lot like North Korea...and several other regimes that have come before...and a lot of countries in the middle east...

Only teach what the "state" deems true. Everything else is heresy.

You're the only person here with the "I'm right you're wrong" mentality. It's hardly a discussion. You're simply in here trying to tell the rest of us that we're not entitled to our own beliefs and we must match yours.

I simply suggested schools show that there are varying sides to the concept. The Big Bang Theory requires the same amount of belief as creationism. Public schools should discuss religions, not in a sense of trying to spread the religion, but more so to expose what the varying views are on the world today.

Look at the problems with Muslims today, a lot of that stems from Americans not knowing the first thing about the Muslim religion, only that they want to kill Americans.

It's you're mentality that is making America appear so closed minded and stuck up to the rest of the world. Unable to admit that 'facts' aren't really 'facts', maybe it's time to realize that your view of the world, isn't the only one.

I have as much a problem with it as I do socialist nonsense being taught at government's expense, bad union teachers being paid to sit in empty rooms at the government's expense, and programs like no child left behind being slammed and kids being pushed through graduation without actually having met the alleged learning requirements at the government's expense.

As much a problem as with drugs, booze, lotto tickets, etc. being bought at government expense thanks to food stamps, section 8, WIC, etc.

Also many private schools DO NOT teach "creationism" anyway.

The Pure Hypocrisy of your attitude is amazing. You believe whole heartedly in Evolution yet you refuse it to be allow to work in the world today.

You constantly support government programs that reward bad or stupid behavior. If you really were a true believer in evolution you would stand against all forms of welfare. Yet you don't.

And yet, you can't fathome the thought that they might be intertwined with religion becasue you can't prove how the universe got it's start using your incomplete scientific "data" or via religion. You shouldn't believe in anything with your attitude.

By allowing tax money to be spent teaching religious beliefs instead of science, you in fact are dismissing those theories.

Parents should not be allowed to teach their kids shit we all know is wrong.

I would go so far as to consider that borderline child abuse.

At least there is a shit ton of evidence for the BB Theory.

The good thing about science is that its true regardless if you believe in it or not.

Yes. We know you want to raise a generation of atheists. Some of us don't. The fed govt should stay out of it.

By who's definition? That could be really fun.

Parents would have to admit to their kids that the Bush tax cuts increased revenue.

Parents would have to admit to their kids that the first recession that Bush had started under Clinton.

Parents would have to admit to their kids that the current recession was caused by liberal policies.

I could go on and on...if liberal parents weren't allowed to tell their kids things that we all know are wrong...we could save this country.

This is a good example of the point I made the other day about conservatives sticking their heads in the sand when it comes to science.

There is no debate amongst scientist on global warming, more than 95% of them that are established in climatology agree that this is happening. The questions being raised are by groups with a vested interest in continuing the status quo.

Its established that it is happening and your side chooses to be dumb on the issue because it fits your agenda.
