People Who Put "M.Ed" or "MBA" As A Title

In a professional capacity, in some professions it's done. At the hospital I volunteer at everyone above a bachelor's degree has letters after their name on their badge and on all correspondence. My daughter, who has her Master's in Clinical Nursing has about six letters after her name. They all mean something to those who deal with her professionally. In her personal life, she doesn't use it. She has had hospital stays in other hospitals, as has my wife, without even letting them know she is an RN. Sometimes knowledge is more powerful if you don't let them know you have it.

I find that most douchebags with MBAs will let you know about it within 30 seconds of the beginning of a conversation with them anyway, so they might as well have it tattooed on their forehead. My boss at the medical equipment company I worked at let us know about it every day.

A lot of this has to do with where you are in the food chain. I had dinner with the head of critical care at a major university about a week ago. He introduced himself by his first name. About five minutes later, some QC internal med walks in and introduces himself as DR. XXX.

We just both turned and looked at him.

The really pretentious ones are Ph.D's who aren't in academia, and aren't really even using their degree for much of anything, as it's in something like history or anthropology or psychology, and insist on being called Doctor.

These are the types of people you'll see on a company's board of directors, listed as Dr. Steven Brule. (and he has a doctor of divinity...)

I believe that's the gist of the thread. It's how one acts with the titles. I've met people that are only high school educated but have my total respect. Meanwhile, the ass I met with an alphabet after his name gets none.

I have a few friends and associates who have the above degrees and more and are great people. Most of the people I have met who plug thier degree's after their name are worthless morons.
